Default conflicting information, HELP?!

alright, i posted awhile back asking if an 18x8.5 rim in the front with a 35 mm offset on a lowered car (vogtland springs 1.5 inches) would be ok, and i got a hearty yes. i purchased the rims, and now some ive started hearing i need a 38 mm offset or more. before i mount tires, i was wondering, would the 35 mm offset be ok, or do i need a larger offset. I really cant afford to take a loss on the rims and tires, so i need to know before i mount anything. please let me know.

They should be fine. You may have to run a 245 tire to make sure you dont rub. My bro has AR rebels and they have a lot less of an offset than that and they clear fine and dont stick out past the fender line

a set of ruff racing 278

18x8.5 with a 35 mm offset in front
18x9.5 with a 45 mm offset in rear
i dont mind em stickin out a little in the rear lol, and as long as they dont rub, ill count it as a win at this point
your bro is lowered too?

Here check this out. Its lowered about an inch or slightly more in the front with the same wheels you are looking at with a 255/40 tire up front and 295/35 out back and they don't rub.

you should be fine. i have 19x8.5 +38 up front with a 245/35/19 tire and a 2" drop up front. with these tires, the fender is about 25" from the ground and i could get another 1" of lowering and they would be fine. there is about another 1" more room towards the inside as well. 3mm is nothing. i would use a 245/35/18 for your fronts. no need for a wider width and a 40 series would look too tall.
i think your back is very close to rubbing on a 275 tire if you're tucking any of the tire. unless you have an adjustable panhard and roll the fender.

How about proof?

That's an 18x8.5 (35mm offset) with a 275/35/18...fits with plenty of room to spare. Car is lowered on Hotchkis springs.

For the record, don't put a 275 on an 8.5" wheel...it works but it's just not right. I'm switching to 255's in the very near future.

How do you know they don't fit if you never mounted the tires?
