Default Two new tires, do they always go on the front?

Friday I got two new tires on my stock 16s. The tires were put on the rear, I didn't think this was a big issue till I went on the highway and the front end was wandering a bit.

Then I remember someone telling me before that new tires should ways go on the front? Would this help with the wandering?

The old tires have about 60-70% tread left. My only mod to my suspension are Koni 4/3s.

Any help

I have always read to keep your best tires on the rear because you have no control on the rear. If poor tires are on the front you can steer through it.

Did you get the tire's balanced too??? I know when i had put 2 new tire's on the rear. On the highway, my car would kinda swerve in a way on certain part's of the road. Like the part's that are very smooth, or had been redone with just patches over it. I never balanced em, untill i got my other 2 tires for the front. So i dont really know man....but if you didnt get em balanced. Go get em, and see if it helps out.

yea new tires on the rear, old on the front. The old ones dont belong on the back b.c there already worn and the new ones will get better traction.

Well I had my two new KDWs on the rear, fronts were worn pretty good also. My front end was wandering all over as well. After some some trips to the track and taking the drag rims off, I put the new street tires on the front and the worn ones on the rear. Wandering is gone. I say put the new ones on front.

Ya having the car drive straight instead of having the steering wheel fight me going down the road seems safer.

to the op... your tires may be cupped (the ones on the front) which can lead to your car swerving a little

yeah, go out and buy some drag radials or slicks and throw em on the front, you know so that ls1 can put maximum power to those front wheels.

Ya, they were worn. New ones on front, drives straight. Still have a few miles left on the worn ones, they're on the back now. Drives better this way. Case closed.

have you not read anything that was posted or watched the video..I doubt multi billion dollar businesses would tell you to put them on the rear unless they had done the tests

"When tires are replaced in pairs in situations like these, the new tires should always be installed on the rear axle and the worn tires moved to the front. The reason is because new tires on the rear axle help the driver more easily maintain control on wet roads because new, deeper treaded tires are more capable of resisting hydroplaning."

I've always been told put the new tires on the wheels that are powered by the engine
