I just read that the Hoosiers are only D.O.T. approved for racing classes that require an D.O.T. approved tire. Only by tread pattern I guess. It said that they were in no way intended for street use or use on public roads. Not sure if this matters or anything. Just some info!

i wouldn't suggest that If you are still using the stock 10 bolt. my et streets killed my 10 bolt after 3 passes.

mickey thompsons all the way, my buddy dropped his 60' from a 1.50 to a 1.42 with just the swap to ET streets from BFGs. he has a strange 12 bolt i believe.

If I were to get the M/T would my Corvette stock rear end handle those hard launches? I am run a 6-speed and my goal is to make 500-600 bhp with this car. The size I'm planning on purchasing is 265/40-18R which should fit the stock 18' C5 rear wheels.

Agreed.

Traction....
MT and Hoosier DR's.
Then the BFG's.
Then the Nitto's.

Longivity....
Nitto's
BFG's
MT/Hoosier

I run Nitto DR's on my TTII's for the street. Hoosier QTP's on the ProStars.

1.38 60' Same tires...

Although since NOBODY has any MT's, Guess I'm gonna try a set of Hoosiers.

I run a MT 12x26x18 Sportsman S/R on 9.5 wide C5 Y2K rims. I love the tire for playing on the street. A little heat and its a very sticky street tire. Plus in rain or *gasp* even light snow be damned if you still can't drive if needed. The tire won't hold 1st gear if I launch over 3k but from a roll on hot rubber its pretty stout....

I voted Mickeys however, I do believe the that the MT are a better track tire and Nittos for on the street. Never had the BFG's but other people I hang around have and didn't like them as well

^+1 Nittos do have good tread life and work decent at the track. My old WS6 'vert with converter/exhaust/nitrous would 60' in the high 1.50s on 275/40 Nittos. Good all around drag radial for a "lower" HP car.

i am now on my second set of m/t radials, only thing i dont like is that they don't last long at all, more so when doing your burnout at the track. My last set only lasted about 1,500 miles. I like them but when having to buy them every couple of months its sucks at $185 a piece.
