Cooper Tires
Cooper Tires Anyone have any experience with the Cooper Zeon 2XS tire? I've got a friend who's a Cooper dealer and can get them for me at cost. I've had good luck with all my other Coopers, but thought I'd ask anyway.
i had those on my car just before my current tires, and they were great tires, especially for the price. i decided to give the GS-D3's a try this time to see if they were better, and by how much (just got them on a few days ago, so i'm still in the evaluation process).
if i was low on funds again when getting tires, i'd definitely get the Coopers again.....great traction, both wet & dry. if you can get them at cost, i say go for it....you won't be disappointed. the only thing they won't be great for is hooking hard when launching, but then again, not really any street tires are going to be good for that.

good tires for money, but if you can dig up a little more cash go with nitto 555s, bfg kdw 2 (or kdw original tread if you can find a set) or the gsd3's. gsd3s are great handling but very pricey and dont last as long as most tires due to a very soft compound.
I've got the gsd3's on right now on the front, but they're getting down there. I have Nitto 555r's on the back which are also getting down. I was racing it a lot last year, but not anymore since I have a more serious racecar now, so a good street tire will do. I wouldn't mind the gsd3's again, but 220/tire is quite a bit.
i'll just go on to say that the 2XS'es that i had were the stock size 245/50-16's, and they grabbed the road like glue when pushing it into some fairly hard corners, at least until they started to get bald.....some 275-width Coopers should be even better. and you really can't beat the price, getting them at cost.

gsd3s and bfg kdws are the most expensive and overrated tires on the market. Not worth what they cost. At least not to me and esp not on a daily driver.

only problem is that unless his buddy's a Sumitomo dealer, too, the Coopers at cost are going to be even cheaper than the Sumi's....so the Coopers would be the better bet, cost-wise. i can't really say anything about the Sumi's, performance-wise, since i've never had them....but i've had the Coopers, and i'd definitely buy them again, especially so if i could get them at cost....
