However they are not a track tire and will not grip as good as a nitto.

If this is for a set of rims that will be in the care 24/7....get the sumis. If this is for a set of rims that will be on the tire only at the track......get the nittos.

Nittos and BFGs are not worth the price to just wear them down with normal driving. But to each his own.
My car is a DD kind of... When I am at home it doesnt see bad weather, I have a beater. But when I am at school its with me till winter when it is put away in the home garage and then back for the Spring...so it gets DD like half the year I guess. I rarely see the track but those nittos hook pretty good on the street too. I have had two other tires, fuzions not bad, and extremo fulda carat and i did not like those a bit! Ive only gone 11000 miles in two years so I dont thinks Id eat the drag radials up too fast...the set I have now was used with the wheels so I dont know how long they last...

I was looking at that tire as well! The Vredestein looks interesting too! I guess I have some research to do...

They are both a skinny treaded 315. I had both on my old 11" ZR1 setup. The 285/40/17 BFG KDW I had before them was about the same width. Just remember the 315 is the section width of the tire, not the actual tread width.
Sumitomos are cheap and you get what you pay for. They don't last real long since they only have something like a 160 treadwear rating.

section width is the actual tire size measurement.
315/35/17
315 mm wide at the widest point. meaning sidewall bulge to sidewall bulge. tread width varies greatly
35 is the sidewall height. 35% of 315 mm
17 is the wheel diameter.

I have 315 Sumi's on the rear. They are ok for normal driving but with my setup they are horrible for traction from a dig. I can't even roll into the throttle at the track without them turning into fried crispies.
