Got mine today. Nice pieces...not flimsy or brittle. Smooth finish that can be textured or wrapped.

Unfortunatly, I cannot install these parts since I totaled my Z28 vert last week AFTER I already paid for 'em.
I should be able to sell them locally but if anyone needs 'em ASAP, I can ship them out to ya.

Huh? I wonder if that means I was too busy last night that I missed mine? I'll have to make sure to look today. If I have them, I'll post pics tomorrow night or Saturday hopefully, definitely not going to have time to do anything with them tonight and maybe not tomorrow either. I'm definitely looking forward to getting them though, even more so with your first impressions of them.

^^Still waiting. We made a new mold to be safe, old one had a lot of soot in it from the fires and we were afraid they'd be warped. Supposed to pick them all up tomorrow...

Some pics of the original textured triangle piece along side the pods.
Some with flash and some with low light to simulate what it would look like in the car at low light/shadow.
Diameter of the hole is approx. 40mm.
Depth looks to be about 20mm from the bottom of the hole to the flat side. The depth of the tweeter would still have the rest of the cavity behind the pod to utilize. The only way to get an exact measurement of depth would be to mount the pod and measure from the mounting surface to the surface behind the side mirror. I'll try tomorrow to get a measurement. Keyword is TRY.

^^Thanks so much man, you're awesome!

Also, FYI to everyone, we went smooth because the guy who makes them (who deals mainly in Mercedes and higher parts) says that "textured is cheap" but mainly...

Make them smooth and if people want to paint body color they can, if they want to texture they can.

Texture them and people will have a PITA doing anything different with them...

Wrapping them was my plan anyway, so the texture was/is not a factor.
Mounting, form and function were my main concerns and these fit the bill.

Speaking of which, I can easily have these made of pure carbon fiber if anyone wants, will probably double the price (I'll check for whomever is interested) but I can have it done. Same CF used for the shaker scoop in the pics...

This may sound odd, but what is the best way to mount the tweeters in these pods? I would assume most people would want to flush-mount them, but if the holes are already too large, that might be tough.

I'm still trying to figure out the mounting, as the screw hole looks to be lower and more towards the back then the oem plastic piece. Does it hold it in tight enough that there is no flex more movement at the top and front where the weight of the tweeter is ?

I can send them without the holes cut if you need them that way...

Just looks that way due to the bulge. It lined up perfect on my car...

Also it is a better way to mount than my old setup and that setup never moved... Time will tell but it seems to be a very good design.

How would most people mount their tweeters in these? Mine can been flush or with the pod to adjust angle/etc...

Are most of you planning on the pod, or to flush? or perhaps are you thinking of just drilling a hole, and putting the tweeter bolt straight through?

I'm trying to visualize this, and if I need the hole cut or not.

I DEFINITELY NEED these though... this great news reminded me how much my sound is currently blocked...

Good news, production has caught up to pre-orders...

...everyone who has ordered will have their item shipped today via Fed Ex

After this I plan to take this thread down and start a "tweeter pods now on sale" thread because people searching to buy probably wouldn't look in here.

Thanks for hanging in there everyone, glad we "got'er done"

Is this production run going to last for a little while? I likely cannot afford them until I get paid on the first
