I just got mine delivered.
WOW, these are awesome. This is the first thing that I have ordered from 6LE and I promise it will not be the last. These are quality parts that should have been there from the factory. Thank you very much! I would recommend these to anyone interested in putting a component set in their car.

Sadly I haven't even installed my own yet Mostly because I have a crap factory radio (in dash DVD was stolen awhile back, I cruised with nothing for a long time until a friend couldn't take it and stuck a factory tape deck in there, has me wanting to buy a good DD now though)...

I'm mostly interested in how people are mounting their tweeters. Are they flush-mounting with that special ring, or are they surface-mounting?

as far as I have seen, you can mount them like our stock tweeters, where the bolt goes straight through the material and mounts, then you can also use a hole-saw to install a 'cup' that holds the tweeter, and usually allows you to angle it. That's flush-mounting.

My tweeters came with so much mounting equipment, I'm a bit confused. I know one is for mounting coaxial-style though...

I see now, I say flush mount, that is how I had mounted them in the design previous to this. They should just sit in there BUT if you need to screw them into something just take a small piece of plumber's strap (or thin metal you can bend and drill a hole into), mount it to the top nut that holds the mirror on, bolt it down, bend it so that it is parallel to the back of the tweeter cup (all of this will be inside the pod) and drill a hole it it for the screw (from tweeter cup) to go through OR if you are using plumber strap that already has large holes in it then put one of those metal clips on it made for a screw to go into (like was is used on the plastic that attaches underneath our bumpers.

so most people just cut the hole to fit the flush-cup, and mount the tweets in those? I was just curious because I know people do a lot of custom stuff with the car audio these days... I wasn't sure if there was a better, or better-looking way of doing it.

I kind of like the idea of mounting the tweeters without the cup, but using a piece of metal like you suggested, so that they are truly flush, but I guess it's not a big deal either way, I was just trying to picture it in my head.

I send them already cut with the holes (I can send uncut if customer requests) so I'd say everyone is mounting flush, using the cup the tweeters come with...

No. They come cut with the standard size hole (dimensions above) or people can request uncut...

Okay thanks sorry for the 20 questions. If I send you the money on Wednesday, would that still be under the $150 production, or would that be the $175?

Thanks again! I'm anxious to get my hands on these

Aw, I wouldn't want to deprive you of the joy!

I'm fine either way... $25 isn't the end of the world I get paid Wednesday, so that's when I plan to hand off the money.

I finally got mine in last night, and to be honest, I'm a bit confused here. I'm usually a very logical person, with my roots in engineering, but I just cannot seem to figure out how these are supposed to mount.

Here is the stock panel.

Here is where the stock screw goes.

The one way that these are mountable, where the screw holes line up, and the lines of the mold with the triangle, ends up aiming the tweeter backwards.

Here is how I would assume these are meant to be mounted, but there's absolutely no way the recession for the screw in the mold could possibly line up with the stock screw.

You can see the screw inside the hole.

How do I mount these? Even when I fit them in the last two pictures, the tweeter seems to aim kinda down-ward, where I would have assumed they'd aim directly at the driver's face. Also, the other edges of the mold don't seem to follow the triangular area quite right, like they do when I turn the mold backwards.

Thanks in advance!
