I'm curious about that also because i have the monsoon cd player but i dont have a Cd changer. Also i know some ipod adapters only play through the front speakers does this play through all the speakers?

No, it's close but not entirely accurate. All adapters that use the CD changer port will only work with head units that support an external CD changer (whether or not the changer is present). For f-bodies, all cassette head units support an external changer. Single CD head units didn't get that capability until late in the 99 model year. There is no reliable way to tell if a 99 head unit supports the changer except to open it up and check for a specific code on the circuit board so it's best to say that CD head units must be 2000 or newer.
So, adapters will work with:
98-02 cassette head unit
00-02 CD head unit
BTW, all of this is covered in the Monsoon FAQ sticky at the top of the forum.

Since I got PM's on what I did to mount my iphone, I did a little research for you and made a list of links to my frankenstein creation.
The plate is velcro'd to the car, the iphone swivel holder is "JB weld"-ed to the plate. The swivel iphone holder was used to create a little depth and kind of to make the iphone look as if it were floating. I will try again to "glue" the clip closed...the JB weld didn't hold too well in my eagerness to attach it to the car.
I just looked for the stuff I used for the build. The plate is from 6litereaterdesigns.com the rest is from ebay. I attached the plate to the car with velcro.
Here's the plate:

This will allow you to charge your iphone or newer ipod. It's inline, which is nice.

You will lose the use of your changer when you install an adapter - only one or the other can be plugged into the port on the back of the radio.

does anyone have this problem? when you hook it up and hit play, it plays for a brief sec then it goes it away then i have to go back and forth from am/fm to cd/aux like 3 times then it plays. Thats when I try to play it from the radio or steering wheel but if I play it from the ipod the it plays fine. Just want to be able to start it from the radio or steering wheel the 1st time.

Wow! Thanks for the post...I was wondering how I was going to go about adding my ipod to my audio...After reading this I bought an isimple just like the one described. In the instructions it says camaro 97-02 compatible. Very easy installation...my ipod/iphone now works in my car, and it said that the cd player wouldn't work but mine still does! not that I will use it...and I love that my steering wheel radio controls/tact switches work as well. If I had not seen this post I would still be lost about what do...thanks!

Not unless it thinks it's an iPod/iPhone. This is a discussion about the iSimple iPod/iPhone interface - it only works with Apple devices.
There are other auxiliary input adapters such as the GM9-AUX which will allow you to send audio from almost any external device through the factory head unit. But they don't recharge the batteries and they don't provide control of the unit - you still have to use the controls on the external player to change tracks, etc.

I have a 99 Camaro with the factory Monsoon HU, no CD changer but the HU looks exactly like the one in all of the pictures. It has the CD/AUX button on it. does this mean that my Head Unit is a late model 99 and this device will work with my car? I really like Peripheral's units, I installed one on my wife's 05 Cobalt and it works without a hitch! I would love to have one on the Camaro too!
Anyone have success with the 99s? If not any other devises known that will allow you to play iPod touch on the factory stereo without going through the FM transmitter route? I hate those stupid things!!! Sound quality is crap!
Thanks

I believe it needs a '00 and up HU.
The easy fix is to just get a '00 and up HU. i've got my old one for sale, but most of the LED's are burnt out. Other than that, the isimple worked on it and the CD works too.
Maybe someone might just swap with you.

Got this today and installed, love it! So nice to be able to use my iphone as my music I felt I was behind in times using CDs still.
Found mine on Amazon for 35 bucks with the harness brand new.
