2 12W6v2 's and Alpine 1000.1 amp
I just picked up a pair of brand new 12W6v2's in a sealed box that is the correct size for the pair of speakers. I'll be running an Alpine 1000.1 amp "once it arrives" Any thoughts on this setup? From the way the box is wired i'll be running 4 ohms and the amp is rated at 600w at 4 ohms.
Looking for anyone with a similar setup, do you think i'll need a bigger amp?
Thanks in adv.

ur DVC 4ohm must be wired in series, thats why it produce the 4ohm load (if u want to make sure check with a ohm meter).
each sub handles 400 rms x 2 = 800 rms and ur amp outputs 600 rms, putting a 800 rms amplifer shouldn`t be too much different (there will be different but not too much) from the one u have.

you might wanna check, i know the newer alpine stuff is rated at RMS wattage not "peak." you might have a 1000 watt RMS amp which would be plenty, although i dont think you will have problems either way.

Bro, bridge it for a 2 ohm load @ 1000W. You will be able to get closer to the total 800W rating.
On the alpine amp, just don't turn the gain up past 3/4, that SHOULD put you around 750W. Thats 50w less you max RMS.
Thats a nice amp. use it to its potential. Bridging the amp will maximize the speakers.

The term "bridging" is generally used when combining two channels of an amp. By doing so each channel will see half the load and you can get more power out of the amp. An example would be a two channel amp and one 4 ohm load. You could "bridge" the amp and divide that 4 ohm load by both channels. Each channel would see a 2 ohm load which is where most typical two channel amps put out there max rated power. I'm not going to look up that amp but most likely a "1000.1" is a mono amp...meaning it has one channel.
Second off the "Gain" is not a power ****. The gain is there so that you can match up the output voltage of your head unit to your amp. Some head units have 2 volt RCA's and some have 4 or even 8 volt RCA's. The gain is there so that you can match up the head unit to the amp. I don't feel like explaining this any farther because most of you will not understand anyway.
Now I remember why I stopped coming in the car audio section

How do you bridge a mono amp? A pair of 4 ohm dual voicecoil woofers can only be wired to be either 4 ohm or 1 ohm load to the amp. My amp is rated at 600w rms at 4 ohms and does not support 1 ohm load.
I think i've decided to sell the alpine and go with an audioque aq1200d. 1200watts rms at 1 ohm sounds about right.

I once had old school W6's in my t/a, with a punch 500? I think it was..anyhow the thing was sick loud. The car I got this current setup in is not a hatch so it muffles / blocks the sound alot more.
