Adjusting the amp
I have been trying different set ups for my amp, and am not sure when it is right, I just can't get it to sound good.

I have alpine 500w amp with a 10" sub.
I have the moonson set all at half way on the HU, where should the gain, bass equ and lp filter be set at roughly?
Thanks for helping a newbie without a musical ear...........

Also turn the loudness off.
I always get confused about loudness..whether it should be on or off. I can see why you'd want it off in an amp'd application.
The loudness is usually in your HU settings or a button. Ive never had an amp with a loudness button...but could be wrong.
Wish there was a fool proof way of tuning an audio system.

It does sound loads better already, but am still a bit unsure of the loudness part.
I searched the HU and can't find a loudness button. Is this something to do with the seven band equalizer?
I have moonson cd without changer FWIW

IMO, 80hz always seems to be a really good starting point, you might want it lower down to 70hz, or higher up to 95hz.
With my system I have my subs set around 90hz w/18db x-over slope, then the rear midrange/woofers set to 40hz w/24db x-over slope and running up to 3k hz.
Finally with my front door speakers 65hz w/12db x-over slope, and also at 30hz w/12db slope.
IMO, just play with the x-over settings until you get the sound balance you want.
