Default DD Speakers

The door speakers in my DD (2000 Neon) are blown and I was looking around for some cheap speakers to replace them with. I found a set by a company called Dual at WalMart for about $30/set. I know they aren't the best in the world, but is anybody here familiar with them? Im not going to put a lot of money into this car's system and I am mostly just listening to XM radio in the car via a PnP unit through the tape deck.

you get what you pay for. They will get the job done if your not looking for outstanding clarity.

Just do your best to match your RMS wattage from the factory speakers. That should give you optimal sound quality for the stock HU.

Thats all Im looking for. Something that sounds at least as good as factory (preferably a little better). Just wanted to make sure that they won't blow as soon as I install them lol.

get alpine coaxials on amazon. i did a 1.5 years ago for about $35 a pair. they are awesome for the money, much better than crappy duals.

also, dual is a cheap company and those will go much faster than alpines.

even an aftermarket hu is at most 25x4 watts. most are around 15. i assume he has oem radio which will be even worse. there are no speakers that will "match" a hu in rms. they'd be crappy to an extreme if thats all they could take.

Yo man, you'll love those speakers. They should be rated at like 100 watts RMS. So basically they'll handle everything your stock system can throw at it without distorting.

You'll be very satisfied. Anyone who hates is misunderstanding what your goals are. Besides, anything is better than the stock paper-cone speakers.

^ you dont know much about stereos do you? thats how much power it can take without blowing, but it sure as hell will have distortion. there are better options around the same price.

If I can locate some, I may try to buy 2 sets of 6.5s: one set for the Neon, one set for the Z28.

^ i assume the neon's are coaxials but the camaros are NOT coaxials, although they are coaxially mounted components. You front speakers have separate wires for the tweeter and mids.

EDIT: i did a quick search on amazon and there are no alpines that cheap now (at least not 6.5s, mine were 6x8). i saw some panasonics for $35ish dollars and although they arent the best they should outperform stocks, and duals.
