Default Passport 9500i cable

The cable that came with this radar detector has a connection that looks like a network cable plug/phone plug.

Is there a write up that shows how to wire this cable so I don't have to use the 12v charger port and so that it(radar detector) looks flush mounted.

Passport makes a direct wire kit that uses the correct end, but just has a + and - at the end of it. They're like $10 shipped on eBay...that's how I've got my 8500 wired and mounted and it looks and works GREAT! Oh, if you still want the remote mute button, they also have those kits, but they're like $30 shipped.

Here they are on Escort's site:

I got the refurbished 8500 off of eBay for $149 shipped directly from Escort and I couldn't be happier! The range of this thing is AMAZING! I just used the direct wire kit WITHOUT the mute button because I doubted I would ever us it anyway. I wanted the Valentine V1, but when I saw this deal, I couldn't pass it up and bought 2. WAAAY better than the old Uniden I did have!

I take it you would hardwire it into the rearview mirror right?

Be carefull with doing this. The mirror is connected to the BCM correct? Which is something I would not want to mess with. I was going to wire my V1 into that at first, but after research I strayed away from that. Look into wiring it into something else. Just my .02

Also, if you wire to the mirror, I don't think the radar detector would turn off with the car since the map lights come on when the car door is open no matter is the car is on or off right?

I actually just wired mine directly into the fuse box and ran the wire behind the trim and headliner. I did mount it right next to my rear-view mirror, but didn't wire it to it.

I wired my Valentine into the rearview mirror, "retained
power" source. No problems. I used about a foot of
telephone cord (V1 uses that connector) and doped
out the connection from the cig adaptor & cable, by
voltmeter.

Just use a phone cord and use the middle two wires!

Here are a few pics I took when I installed mine. The suction cups don't hold it to the windshield very well so I will be trying something different when I have time to mess with it. I was just going to use a visor clip but the eyebrow tint would have interfered with the performance.
