Default Fog Lights, Would this be dumb?

So Here is my idea.

remove the factory fogs, and get a set of cheap foglights with a glass lense. I have a set of KC daylights off my blazer I don't use anymore.

Would it be stupid to put the 150W bulbs into the glass fogs, then use relays to wire everything up.

Is it possible theat they could be so hot that they may melt the bumper?

Thanks

i understand the save the money factor to go this route, but why not just get some HIDs for the fogs? you will have to wire in the new bulbs with relays anyway. As for the heat, i honestly dont know, but i would think it could be a possibility to atleast affect the paint on the bumper around the light.

HIDs could possibly melt stock housings also, its a common problem.

Yea, just search HID fogs or something of that sort... there have been numerous accounts of the housings melting from the heat..

I don't have them handy but it seems to me that in a recent issue of GM High Tech Performance or High Performance Pontiac there was a Trans Am that had some KC (or similar type) off road lights mounted where the fog lights go. I think they even had the plastic cage. They looked fine. Don't know about the heat though.

Not dumb, I did it back when I had my LT1 trans am, they worked good. I upgraded the wiring and installed 100watt bulbs, they did look sweet!

I ordered up some KC HiLites. They are 100W long range lights. I'm eventually gonna swap out the bulbs for HID bulbs. I'm gonna make a thread when I install them.
