Low power/Sweet sounding system JVC DVD/JL
I just installed a complete system in my 2000 WS6 this last weekend. I am still waiting for the custom double din bezel from a vendor off LS1tech and a couple other small addons for the HU so it is not 100% complete yet but is functional. This setup is loud and clear when setup properly. You can hear the full range of sound possible and no distortion at all. I can't wait to get the sub broken in and turn up the gain.
I will add pics when they are available.
HU: JVC Arsenal KW-AVX820 (double din, yes it fits with no problems)
pros:
-7" LCD full touch screen display(DVD resolution is great)
-5v pre outs
-bluetooth antenna(reads music directly off my LG Dare and the hands free calling works great)
-removable faceplate
-remote control although I dont think I will use it
cons:
-not very customizable(3 background images to choose from or blank which looks as it sounds) There are I believe 15 color choices and all it does is make everything that color except the text.
thats all the cons I have so far in the 2 days I have been using it.
Still havent received the bezel
2 sets of JL VR 650csi components 6 3/4" woofers and 3/4" silk tweeters
pros:
-Sound awesome
-can handle a lot of power
-tweeters come with 3 different types of mounts
cons:
-the holes on the woofer brackets don't match the stock gm locations where the rear passenger speakers go. quick fix, self tapping screws.
JL 10W3V2 4ohm sub in a driver side non-JL stealth box
pros:
-Looks factory(black carpeting though instead of grey but fills the whole perfectly)
-The JL sub works and sounds great
-cost effective(saved about $250)
cons:
-havent found any
JL G6600 6 channel 600w AB amp Channels 1-4 for the components @4ohm stereo and 5/6 bridged for the sub @2ohm mono
pros:
-high quality
-made specifically for this type of setup
-efficient
cons:
-power output for this sub isn't as high as the sub is rated for. May not be a con for most because it still sounds good but if you want more bass you will need a separate amp or a bigger 5/6 channel amp. In this config the sub is getting about 200rms when it can handle 300rms.
-I wish the amp was black since my whole car is black(again not really a con just something I would prefer)
temp screw down to carpet. I will be adding a wood platform soon.
Sound quest stage 1 wiring kit I ran the power line down the passenger side of the car and everything else down the driver side.
pros:
-no noise
-appears to be good quality
cons:
-the preamp wire that came in the actual install kit seemed like it might be lower quality than the separate wires I purchased. The RCA connectors were loose and even separated from the pre out when installing the HU.
I will add pics when they are available.
