Default Your thoughts

So I've decided to change my stereo up a little. Currently rockin' a Kenwood BT-742, OEM speakers, and 10" type R pushed by and MTX amp. (Sail panel drivers are blown and disconnected) Sounds good but I want something different.

Option 1: Ditch the OEM's, grab a Rockford Punch 45 and some higher end components (JL Audio C2's or C5's, Memphis M-line, or Alpine SPX...) in the doors only. So door speakers and 10" sub, will I miss the other speakers?

Option 2: Replace the sail panel speakers and go on down the road.

Option 3: The totally eff it option, ditch the OEM's grab a 4-channel amp and throw new components in the door and sail panels and ditch the hatch speakers.

After driving the benz for a while and graduating high school I no longer am ok with the roaring borla and interior road noise. I now have the need to be able to carry on a conversation with out yelling so I'll being ripping out the interior and laying down a combo of dynomat extreme and frost king. I'm slowly turning her into the comfortable but fun daily driver I know she can be. (First thing out the door will be the sportlines and shocks.)

Thanks for your opinions. One final note:

I am all about option 3. If you do it right, you can have a nice clean sounding system that can also get loud if the need arises.

option 1. with a good set of components in the doors as your only speakers and a solid sub setup in the rear, you will not miss any of the other speakers whatsoever. option 2 and 3 aren't even worth considering. i have 2 components in the doors and 2 subs in the rear and it sounds amazing. of your listed options, i would choose type x components by alpine.

i personally would at least go door and panels, i like the rear fill. make sure they are mounted and sealed good. for speaks i like how eclipse sounds, they aren't peaky like a lot of other mainstream stuff unless you want to go up to like rainbow or something a lil pricey. what kinda budget are you working with, yo can get some decent low end from a budget 10" setup

I have more than plenty low. I wish that kind of bass was so easy in every car. I drove home with the fader on the deck pushed all the way forward. It was cleaner but not as full. Definitely comes down to preference. I'm thinking pump the components with an amp and maybe throw in speaks in the sail panels later that are switched... The literal best of both worlds. I have a feeling jazz and country on just the front and rock/rap on both.

maybe a speaker pod would clean up the panels because they are mounted infinite baffle and some back pressure for cone control would help some.
