Default ? about speakers

What is the deference component speakers, and coxical speakers. Also can you tell them apart just by looking at them. I ask because people say use components for the doors, and coxical for the sails.

Coaxials have the mid with the tweeter built into it. Components have a mid bass driver, tweeter and crossover all seperate usually. Ppl use Coaxials in the sail because everythings built in one i would imagine.

Most(low-end) coaxial speakers have a very low quality x-over mounted right on the speaker frame and as a result the sound quality of the speakers is usually less then ideal. On the other hand, many of the "high-end" coaxial speakers have a separate hight quality x-over and producer a smoother sound. So you can still get a good sounding coaxial speaker, and some component speaker systems give you the option to mount the tweeters coaxial fashion.

Nobody who knows anything about Monsoon systems ever recommends putting coaxial speakers (or even components for that matter) in the sail panels. The Monsoon amp provides only low frequency signal to the sail panels so you need subs or mid-bass there unless you rewire.

The OP didn't specify what kind of system and since the vast majority of Z/28s and T/As have Monsoon systems, the response seemed appropriate.

If I do go with the component. Where is a good place to mount them in Camaro. Don't want to spend no more than $120.00 to $130.00.

Thumbs up

Here's where I mounted mine. with the aid of a hole saw, and some trimming on the back side of the door panel with a dremel.

A set of Polk db components are good sounding speakers, and within your budget.
