so tired of blowing monsoon speakers...
I knew I was playing my music sort of loud but no where near the point that you should blow a speaker. The volume was at a good level for someone who just had a shitty day at work. Bass is at half way and NEVER any more than that. So I hear a sudden cracking noise in the drivers front speaker, change the balance around and what do you know...yep it's ANOTHER blown monsoon. I'm very very tired of this, the car came with blown speakers and i blew a few others on a 2nd replacement set. Now the remaining speakers are blowing out, man I should have just upgraded my speakers in the first place. Soooo what speakers have you all found are enjoyable in your F-body? Amp along with it or just the head unit powering them? I have a 3200 Watt sub I may put in if I find some good speakers and some $.

I like my CDT components from Kee Audio. They sound great! MUCH better than stock and will last a lot longer as well. I got Kee's Basic package and that works well for me. If you do put that sub in your car, you probably won't need the sail panel speakers anyway.

You should definitely stop replacing them with monsoons! I blew my rear monsoon two weeks after I got my mtx's after that one time. Monsoons suck man. JL audio components are really nice. I wish I would have got those instead. Do you have an aftermarket head unit?

This is how I did it too. Installed the sub/amp in the wheel well, then pulled out the backset set of speakers. I havnt heard a single crackle in 6 years now! and the system sounds great.

I think if you tell him it is for a camaro, he will include a special bracket that mounts the tweaters INSIDE the woofers, just like a coaxial speaker. I don't know because I have a firebird, but he would know more. You won't be disappointed with Kee!

I found that the front and passenger subs are the easiest to blow. I have yet to blow out the hatch speakers. I guess cuz they are 4 ohm they don't turn up quite as quickly they don't blow as easily.

I use Cadence CVL-6K speakers in both my GTO and, after hearing how awesome they sounded, put them inside of my WS6. 6.5-in woofer with a 1-in tweeter connected by a crossover. Not only has the sound quality been superb, but no stock stereo has come even close to straining them. I have them all hooked up to 4x125 component amps now and they handle the power just fine. Bottom line: if you're replacing any speakers, I'd recommend a component set, particularly for the doors.

I would recommend Memphis speakers. They might be a little pricey compared to some others but they sound SO clear and I crank my **** loud as hell all the time and they never distort (a big problem I had with my old Polk speakers) and have never blown. I have four 6.5" (I think) speakers with two 1" tweeters running off a 4 channel amp, connected to an Alpine headunit.

i have the stock head unit and i like it, is there any better replacement speakers that you can run with the stock head unit? i do not want to change the head unit, but i would like some awesome speakers. i have a 2001 head unit with the 10 speaker monsoon system in my 1999 trans am.

It looks like i'm gonna order the premium speakers from KEE. I reallllly want to maintain my steering wheel controls and don't want to buy a new head unit that accomadates the wireless transmittters to use the controls. Everyone seems to like their CDT speakers from Kee so I dont' think I can go wrong. If I need more bass i'll run a line to my 3200 amp that I have sitting around and stick my comp sub in there but I doubt I will need to.
