Default Crossed pos & neg, no start. please help

Alright, I have a QTP electric cutout switch that shares the power with my traction control and the ground is just a regular fish eye ground on a bolt. The switch broke when i was intoxicated the other day i was a little rough with her and it snapped off. So i ordered a replacement, but in the mean time i took off the old switch with 4 wires ( pos, neg, and 2 signal wires for up and down). I realized that the positive and negative were exposed and before i could do somethin about it, they rubbed together while i was parked (koer).

So with that, my headlights and tailights shut off but my car stayed running fine. I was able to turn the lights on manually but the auto light feature was done. I figured if i shut it off and turned it back on maybe the lights will come on. I shut it off and now it wont even turn back on. PLENTY of power (lights, radio, windows all work), but when i try to start it i dont even get a click to the starter. I thought i was the starter fuse at first because i dont even hear the solenoid click. I havent checked it with a test light yet, just visually inspected and switched some known good fuses but to no prevail. I then thought i may have smoked out the PCM but i wouldnt be getting lights and radio would i?

please help me out, i no this is a lengthy post but my car is motionless and i need to work in two days. i have been a tech for 3 years and everytime i encountered a problem like this its been a blown fuse so i dunno what i messed up. anybody have something similar happen? thanks gentlemen

If the igintion module is wired into any of those systems your most likely fried it, hense why the car stayed running till you turned it off.

Actually I believe that the ignition module only provides power to the coils/fuel injectors to provide spark to start the car, so it would make sense that everything else works.

LS1 does not use an ignition module. PCM fires the coils.

Secondly, did you check the fuses? You certainly blew something when the wires shorted.

Same here I worked for GM for 4 years. Prey then test all the fuses. probably a simple overlooked fix. Start with the basics.
Do you have a Tech2?? Any codes?? Security light??

Check the fuses labled PCM IGN, PCM BAT and ENG CTRL. I belive there are two ENG CTRL fuses. one 50A and one 15A.

hah no tech 2 unfortunetly and i ran over my last test light not too long ago, i am probably just gonna buy a new test light, and like you said, start with the basics. thats usually always how i diagnose but it just sucks cuz the only tool i got is my eyes at the moment and the fuses look fine. i just hope i popped a fuse and not melted a wire cuz that will be a pain to track down.

thank u guys
