Default Class D amp vs 2 channel amp

Im putting an Alpine type R in stealth box and just need the best amp to power it but im not wanting to spend a lot of money. Im looking at:

-Sony XM-GTR6001(1300W Max, Class D Mono amp) 600Wx1@4o ($150)
-Kenwood KAC-7204(1000W Max, 2-Channel Amp) 500Wx1@4o ($103)

The Kenwood's a lot cheaper so i defiantly leaning towards it but whats the big difference between the two??? The kenwwod's got a cooling fan while i guess the class D has better circuitry so doesnt need a fan. I dont really wanna be hearing a noisy fan all the time nor be draining the hell out of my battery causing me to get a new alternator so which would you'all suggest for a single 10"??? And all of you that have 2 channel amps are you overall happy with them? Opinions Plz. Thx...

For just powering the sub I'd say go with the mono, though an amp with a built in fan isn't loud or anything. Also, I wouldn't even worry about straining your alt with just 600w.

Ya i really wanna go with the Sony b/c its a mono and i wont have to max out the amp but its $50 dollars more i really dont have so if a measly 500 watts wont really affect my alt then i'll jus with the cheapo kenwood. Anyone else like/dislike their two channel amp?

Neither. Sony is crap, and the Kenwood is not meant for subwoofers.

IMO, keep saving for a decent amp. A nice amp will last you a long time but a cheap one will have problems in little time. If you're gonna get a system get some decent equipment that'll last without problems. $150 may be able to get you something nice but used, so try craigslist. I picked up my US Amp md1d off craigslist at what i think was a good price for a perfectly fine amp, just some surface scratches is all. You'll be surprised at what you can find, just don't get cheap or you'll spend more replacing them.

ya thats was my first pick through sonic electronix!!! But its only rated at 330 or 350wattsx1 channel @ 4 ohms. But idk ive seen other sites advertise it at 500wx1ch@4ohms so a bit confused, but since its 700W max im sure its 300 something. The Type R is 500 watts RMS so i was trying to give it that. Think i'd be alright just running it on 350watts???

Some of the best amps are the older ones. I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 400.4 and a Power 500.2 (if I remember right, there were a bunch of them) and they are AMAZING amps. I'd get something like the Fosgate 500.2 and bridge it (I'm almost positive it can be bridged). If I remember right, its 250x2 at 2ohm, but its severely underrated. My friend had the amp before I did and had it on the two 10's I have (Infinity Perfect 10s) and in a ported box, it hit 146db. VERY impressive for what it was. They can be had pretty cheap too. I got mine for practically nothing, and bought the 400.4 off eBay for $90. Nice part is they match, and have a thing called a amp link that replaces the end covers and makes it look like one amp.

First off, you don't have to act like a complete dick, and second, like I thought, I was mistaken, my second amp isn't the 500.2, its the Power 550S.

yeah u should def stay in the rms range your sub wont flex enough with the stiffer material used on the larger speakers (rms) and can cause voice coil overheating trying to move them i had 2 type rs in my camaro with a 1800 watt amp and i got years of use and heart stopping bass

Yes, Kicker is a good brand for amps. Not so good for subwoofers, though. But amps yes.

That Eclipse Amp is rated at 350 watt rms@4ohm, 500@2ohm.

You can also get a Alpine MRP-500M(500 watts rms@2ohm) for $149.95 shipped on Ebay
