Default how about memphis? anyoen run them?

I'm looking to install a full system, pieced together from ebay and other sources.

I like some old school stuff so here's what I'm looking at

Pioneer premier deh-p940mp or deh-p860mp

Memphis amps
16-st3004 which is 75w x 4@4ohm or 115w x 4@2ohm
16-st1000d which is 300@4ohm 600@2ohm and 1100@1ohm

Memphis m class component up front with 8in midbass in sails and 4in coax in rear with 1or 2 12inch mclass subs.

What do y'all think of memphis audio are they worth investing in?
If not what do y'all recommend.

I'd say some of them are a little expensive most likely...The only amps I've ever had that I liked were Fosgate and thats all I'll buy from now on. I have a Punch 400.4 and a Power 550S for my subs. I love them, but I think I'm gonna upgrade to the Power 800.4 and the Power 1000.1. Or maybe 2 1000.1s. Not sure. lol Either way, consider the older xxx.x series amps from Fosgate (circa ~2001). There VERY good amps and from what I've read, seen, etc, there considered some of the best amps Fosgate ever made. There still VERY desirable, hard to find and expensive, but worth it.

I like Memphis. They've always seemed to make decent stuff. I like the old Fosgate stuff as well. I still have an old Power Series 600.5 I run right now made in 2001. It is a very underrated amp. Makes way more power then advertised. I'm not a big fan of the newer Fosgate stuff though.
I do have 2 old model Clif Designs CD80.5LX that are absolutely sick. One amp (2.5 ft. long), 5-channels, 2500watts peak power. I am keeping one for myself and selling one.

Let me put it this way, my 400.4 is so powerful, its almost to powerful for my CDT's. I have my CDT components in the front doors each on there own channel, and I have the gain turn all the way down. It starts losing SQ if I turn it up even the slightest bit. Half way would probably blow the speakers.

Kee, you wouldn't happen to have an amp link for the old Fosgate amps, would you? I have one, but I think I might get another amp or two and I'd like to get another one if possible, but the only ones I've found are on Ebay for a RIDICULOUS price.

Instead of going 8 mid bass and 4 coax ever seen the 8" component set that you can run as coax? I had a set in the rear deck of my prelude and they sounded awesome. Not too sure they actually make them anymore but look hard enough I bet you can find a set. I have thought about putting a set in the sails but my buddy wont sell mine back to me. Memphis holds many many records and world championships in MECA and other formats as well. Good choice imo

Not anymore. I used to have a hookup but the guy got out of the business. At that time he even had brand new Punch 150, 75, and 45 amps. It was a few years ago though. I used a Punch 45 in an install I did with a single 10" sub and it cracked me up to see how hard that little "90 watt" amp hit.

I'm curious... why cut up your sail panels to put in 8" mid-bass and also add 12" sub(s)? With the sub(s) you'll have no need for the extra size in the sail panels so why butcher the panels? A couple of 6.5" mid-bass should give you plenty in the frequency range between the subs and the door speakers.

About the 8" components memphis made. They were called the msync8's. They have not been made for the past year or so but I talked to my rep last week and he said they will be back soon. They should be called msc8 if I remember right. Memphis is good stuff the old st amps were pretty good a lot of people in my area seem to want them back again, I think for looks more than anything.

I havent had much experience with memphis subs but the amps are very good.
I have owned a memphis pr500.1
Buddy owned it before me...was rated at 1 ohm. Buddy rain it daily at .5 and burped it a .25 ocasionally. I couldnt believe it. Crossovers are also very strong.

I run a memphis amp for my subs and have been planning on getting a 4ch for my other speakers. I chose them because of their size...I have the amp mounted on the rear wall amp rack and also have a subthump box. I wanted to still be able to have the option to use the t-top storage or flipping the subthump box. I have no complaints so far.
