16 volt alternator

Default 16 volt alternator

Would this be good for a high powered system or would it burn out my pcm and other electronics?

Very, very bad idea. You'll burn up all manner of stuff. If you have problems, increase the diameter of the wires supply power to your stuff so that you can carry enough current and not have a voltage drop due to wire length. DO NOT try to fix it by stuffing more voltage through it.

When I say increase wire size, I'm not talking about on the audio side of things. I'm talking about the power side.

I you're NOT having problems, then you won't see any benefit from increasing wire diameter either.

ok, Im building a turbo system that has the alternator relocated to the passenger side valve cover and want to get the biggest that can fit. I might sell the bracket so I can get the speed inc bracket. I also have a bunch of electronics and need a 250 amp alternator.

Here I purchased my 200 volts alternator, new.

You deal with the owner. Fair price and excellent service and support

That would be a 200 amp alternator. 200 volts is more than in your house.

Unless you have a huge audio system, 250 amps is more than needed to run the electronics in KITT.

You can actually get more output at idle from a 200 amp alternator than from a 250. The 250 generates more power at higher RPM but not as much at idle.

*I meant to write 200 amperes 140 volts.

big three upgraded, 0 gauge wire used. The alternator im looking at has approx 180 amp at idle

I meant 140 amps alternator LT1 stock...12 volts...

What kind of setup are you running that you need 180a at idle? You should also get another battery or 2.

I have two batteries, my amp has a 500 amp fuse on it. The other amp has 120 amp fuse rating. I bought to big an amp so i'm trying to make it work
