Default Audio / video upgrade to the Camaro!

Recently, with the help of a couple of buddies, I added a Double DIN unit to my Camaro, Kenwood DNX5140. We also upgraded my speakers for an overall audio / video experience! I love this system - it includes Navigation (by Garmin), DVD, iPod, Satellite radio, Bluetooth, USB, and a lot of other features I haven't got to yet. The bezel is the one that 6LE sells.

Here's a snapshot of what the unit looks like:

And today I added this 9" RCA video monitor (mocked up for now, need to find a better way of hiding wires) for when the little guy rides with me so he doesn't get bored I can either play a movie from the main unit and display it on the back OR I can pop the DVD in in the back monitor and just play music from the main unit (and fade the sound for the front speakers only or have him wear headphones perhaps)

Looks good!
I doubt your kid would hear anything from the headphones with the ms3 being in the car and all.

Double DIN is the way to go! That's a nice Kenwood unit, been thinking about getting one myself.

Looks good. Ever thought about leather wrapping the bezel?

bought the bezel already modified. Check out 6LE's site It fits nicely ... You need to cut/shave the bottom side but narrow (i.e. add ) to the sides. I suck at crafting crap like this (i tried 1 on my own and butchered it lol) so I bought one profesionally made .. haha

That's bad *** dude. Nice job.

The bezzle from 6LE... Is it an optical illusion with the picture, or is it VERY slightly off color, and VERY slightly too small?

For $250 I'm looking for 100% OEM fit and finish. Do you have any daytime / outside normal light pictures?

I'm right behind you with the 2Dinn install. Just doing my homework first.

I'll try to get better pictures in natural lighting. The color isn't 100% matching but under normal lighting looks pretty darn close. It is a tight fit for sure but wouldn't say too small, maybe the angle.

I'll get better angle & lighting pics soon. Btw, the DDIN bezel you would buy off 6LE, is a stock bezel but just professionally crafted and modified to fit .. it's not like a brand new mold of a DDIN bezel.

Oh, I see. I must have been reading their website wrong. I thought they were hand made from fiberglass. If they're OE peices, then the fit must be good.

Those daylight pics would still go a long way in giving me the warm fuzzies before ordering.

Yup, you can modify your stock one. There's a write-up somewhere on LS1tech about it, it can be done. And yes, I re-wired from the Kenwood to new AMP to new Speakers. It sounds great, IMO. Very clear/crisp sound now.
