Too bad they are often VERY wrong. I can understand that they might recommend 2-way and 3-way speakers for the sail panels because they don't know about the signal filtering in the Monsoon amp that requires midbass/subs there (it's still WRONG but I can understand how it happens). But they also list 5.25" speakers for doors and sail panels which require 6.5" speakers. I can see the thread now... "My new speakers fall right through the openings, how do I mount them? They must be right because Crutchfield said so."

I have had no problems with crutchfield being wrong with any of the six vehicles that i have outfitted with gear from them, as long as a little common sense is used
While they will list smaller speakers as fitting, if you read the fine print, they include mounting brackets that will allow them to fit. Why anyone would want a 5.5" speaker when a 6.5" fits is beyond me, but that's not my choice...
As for the two and three ways, I agree with what you said, if not because of misunderstanding, then possibly because 6.5" low-range speakers/woofers are rare and difficult to find (without buying a component system).

Yes, the first line in that quote is correct. Every other line in that quoted section is wrong in one way or another. And even the surrounding post lists 6" (rather than 6.5S) for the sail panels. So I stand by my original statement - a lot of the information in the link is incorrect.
