Default Which subwoofer(s) for my Z06???

Well I really wish I could sit in people's cars and listen to their stereo's, but since I can't, and I don't want to waste money, any help would be appreciated.

Ok, well I have a Z06 and I am wanting to upgrade my Bose stereo. I am capable of building my own boxes, wiring everything, and all that good stuff, but I don't know what direction to go.

I enjoy all kinds of music and I want to be able to listen to all kinds. I feel that my factory speakers sound great, listening to the Moonlight Sonata while flying down a mountain road is great, no complaints. But I am also a 23 year old college kid and sometimes I want to put on my rap and make some noise.

I just want to add a subwoofer, or two to my system. I don't have a ton of experience with a bunch of different set-ups, so I'd like some opinions.

I was thinking of either a single subwoofer in the center hatch area thing of my Corvette, or I could put two in either side behind the wheel wells.

Obviously, I want something that will make me happy without going overboard in weight, equipment, and money.

In the past I have had sets of cheap subs, JL 12W0's, Punch z's, cheap kenwoods, and a single one of these 12" subs are not going to provide enough bass.

On the other hand, I have a 12" pioneer SPL series, the 5000Watt one. It weighed like 70lbs. It was completely unnecessary and way too big for my Corvette. Heck, it's too much for any car, they are really just made for competition use.

So tell me what you guys have heard and what you guys liked.

I thought about a single W6 or something equivilant, or maybe a couple JLW3's if I went with two. I would much rather go with one, but I need something kinda small that will still put out some good bass.

Whats the price range? And IMO the JL series is overpriced for what you get and there are others out there that perform as well or better.

The best option I've seen, done, and heard in a Vette is to go with this:
1.) High quality set of components up front for the doors. 6.5" midbass with seperate tweeter
2.) High quality single 10" subwoofer
3.) High quality 4-channel amp ran in 3-way mode. Front channels powering the components and the rear bridged to run the sub.
Power is seperated to about 110watts RMS to the doors and about 250watts+ RMS to the sub.

This is a simple, SQ setup that is tried and true and will sound great in that car without being overbearing. This can also keep the stock HU in the car. I have several options that can work for that setup including a few with the new amps from CDT.

i have a 02 trans am and with my set up i have had tons of comments about how great the sound quality is in my over all system in my personal opinion i would go with a high voltage radio i prefer pioneer pushing 4 or more volts. then memphis mc components all arround a mc 4,75 amplifier on your highs and mids and as for subwoofers a suggest two memphis pr 10s in a new custom box we have made for f bodys and corvettes. this is what i have in my personal car and i am verry pleased with the results i myself am a car audio installation specialist and have acess to many different brands and i have had numerous brands in my car but in my opinion nothing matches the sound quality and overall performance of memphis. whre are you located? if its any where close to georgia you should check our shop out
