I have installed led bulbs all throughout the car. basically replacing every bulb with a led. my question is i want to install lights in the footwell to come on when i open the doors but I also want these on the floor to be hooked up to a switch as well so I can turn these on when I am driving down the road if I choose to also. Where and how can I wire this switch up to turn these on if I choose to?
thanks

Too ricey for me xD but like i was going on, you got 3 wires to your mirror lights, you should be able to splice off the three. If im not mistaken, one is ground, one is always on, and one is that dimmer power wire that turns on when you open door and when key fob is used. Just wire the three to a switch from radio shack and your done

If you want your lights to work like the map/courtesy lights, you have to use the dark blue with white wire for power, the white wire for ground, and an additional ground wire from your switch. Connect your switch to the ground side of your LED circuit so that the circuit grounds via the white wire when you want the LEDs to go on and off with the other courtesy lights but grounds through your added ground wire when you want to turn them on manually.

I broke into the A Piller on the driver side and spliced into the 2 wires there. My map lights in the mirror work only with the switches on the mirror and my foot wells come on when I unlock the car or when I use the switch on the headlight switch to turn the interior lights on. I needed to leave a Real light Bulb in the headliner socket to get them to go out. I covered the clear cover with Red Tape so not to have any white light.

I will take a couple of pics tonight, but i will have to remove the A Piller to see how I wired it. I remember I cut one wire completely and tapped into the other. I can take the cover off tomorrow and look but I am at work now.
OK here are two photos of my Z28 with Red LED's
