well I'm doing the big 3 first. I don't have headlight dimming issues (HID's)..but my dash lights dim big time and the volt gauge drops a lot. I appreciate the recommendations. I know that the big 3 helps but I don't think it will make a HUGE difference, and as far as a next step, I want to do what's best, but also I DONT want to have to ditch the brand new red top optima I just forked out for a few months ago. lol

Ill throw my 2 cents in, do big 3 first

On my buddys 97 TA he had big3 in 4ga and an optima yellow top that came in the car when he bought it on an oem alternator with over 100k miles on it.

Ran 75x4 rms to his speakers and 1200rms to his subs from a jbl bp1200.1 and had zero dimming what so ever. Then we redid the stereo setup and added a second bp1200.1, so over 2400wrms just on the substage and left the 4ga big3 and stock alternator and stock battery and at full tilt or close to it got some dimming but it was pretty minimal

2. If it is okay to post it, do a search for "160 alternator camaro" on ebay. There are a ton and they range from $104 to about $140 shipped.
Where does the flat grounding cable in this picture go to?

Good luck with that...make sure you register that optima so you can get the warranty. I just had to replace mine that was only 2 years old. It still worked, but wasn't putting out enough power under load. Just sitting there it would read 12.6 volts, but when I cranked it it would drop down to low 8's. You could really notice it was straining the starter. Went with a carquest advanced gen battery and it fixed my problem. I will never recommend or buy an optima again. Waste of money IMO since they switched production to mexico

Powerbastards 220amp or the KG3 145amp off a 2003 chevy half ton if you're on a budget.

You need at least 4 gauge for the KG3, and 2 gauge for the 220amp.

0 gauge wouldn't hurt in either setup.

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. The flat cable is just there for comparison. It originally goes from the alternator to the body. As for where it goes now, it is in a land fill somewhere.

I hope that helps. I replaced it with 0 gauge like the rest.

If not, let me know and I'll try to understand and explain it better.
