Default headlight upgrade tips?

drove my firebird today, and it was dark, rainy, and kind of foggy. had my fog lamps on along with my lows, and couldnt see jack **** hardly. put my highs on, and it seemed like they are just like low beams. man firebird lights suck. anyway, just had some questions on some hella's ive found. here's some links

http://www.amazon.com/Hella-00999802...=pd_sbs_auto_2

the first i was going to use for high beams, with an HID kit. heres the hid kit v

http://www.bestany.com/index.php/cat...ulb-6000k-50w/

http://www.amazon.com/Hella-90mm-Hea...sim_dbs_auto_1

^those for the lows

http://www.amazon.com/Hella-H7101045...20%20%20%20low

^those for the driving lights

http://www.amazon.com/Hella-00858200...=pd_sbs_auto_4

^and those for the fogs

to save money, i was gonna wait to put new fogs and driving lights, but i had some q's about the high and lows

the first said it was a high and low, was wonderin if that means that you can use it as either or it stays on all the time. that is the one i was going to HID. might HID the lows too. would the HID kit be plug and play, or would i have to put new switches and **** in

i'll prolly have more questions soon, so be ready guys. thanks

Well if its for a trans/camaro that have a separate housing for the high/lo yes they can both be on together, you just cannot have the high beams on's with the fogs they automatically turn off.You could wire it where all three stay on together .On my truck I had to take the steering column apart and it had a button on the back of the switch that would turn the fog off.You have to watch out for those cheap housings as I seen many HIDS melt the housings especially if your looking at a 55w kit.The bulb for the HID HI beams are just longer than the lo beam everything else is the same as the low.For fogs ID recommend a Projector lens w/HIDS.If you go with 6000k 55 watt it tends to be more like 8000 since it gets more power than the 35w it affects the color.

And yes there basically plug and play. They do make a aftermarket harness that goes to the battery to give it a little more current

I'm guessing from your screen name, you have a 1998 Firebird. You don't need the bi-halogen unit since the car has separate low beam & high beam and you already plan on buying the Hella high beam reflector. You can get the Hella 90mm low beam projector which is much cheaper. That combination would be cheaper and easier to install.

Also, there are other options for lighting upgrades. Blackbird Lighting Solutions (BLS) sells ready-made kits that you can drop into the stock locations with only having to change the bulb connector instead of the modification needed to install your own custom projector setup.

BTW, I have the Hella 90mm H9 low beam projectors. They are definitely better than stock, but there are better options out there as well. It just depends on how crafty you are.

Check out the Lighting FAQ for my install with the Hell 90mm H9 projectors and for more info on other projector installs.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...hting-faq.html

For example, if you are willing/capable to put in some more fab time/skills, then check out the FX & Morimoto-mini projectors. They will offer better output and are real HID projectors (as opposed to the Hella 90mm H9 projector which is Halogen).

Alternatively, Hello does sell a 90mm D2S HID projector, but its way to expensive especially considering that there are cheaper projectors available with better output.

You can buy the Hella projectors and other supplies directly from Rally Lights (instead of their Amazon store), just go to their website (guess the name).

You can get the FX, Morimoto-Mini and other projectors from The Retrofit Source.

Check out the forums at HID Planet for much more info on HID retrofits. Like any major change or purchase, do plenty of research before buying.

As for HID kits, there are cheaper alternative there as well. Check out DDM Tuning. I you want OEM HID parts, check out The Retrofit Source.

Glass, they are of awesome quality. As for the HID's I recommend the DDM kit.
I went with 35 watt/6000K for the lows and fogs
