Fm Stereo Modulator
Fm Stereo Modulator Just curious if anyone else has used one of these? I saw a scosche one and it seems that it could work. I am looking to have an input jack to my factory monsoon but not looking t break into the head unit and add one myself.

if you're in an area that has a lot of stations those things don't work for crap. I bought one for the 04 mustang and i couldn't get a clear station because i'm too close to Chicago. Even on frequencies where there was no station, the static overpowered the music. i ended up returning it and buying a module online that actually interfaces with the stock Ford head unit and basically adds RCA inputs and it came with a cable to turn the RCA's into a 3.5mm headphone jack.
I believe best buy sells a hard wired FM modulator for any radio which actually will override an FM frequency enough that the radio won't interfere with the mp3 player and since its wired it doesn't effect any cars around you. i had something similar for a CD changer in my old thunderbird before i bought a deck with a cd changer controller.
I think BB said the wired FM module was $90 and it would have been $50 to install it. that's probably your best bet since you can't add a factory module like i did for the the mustang.

I'm not a audiophile and I don't have to have the best sound, while a FM modulator is better than nothing, they really don't sound very good. After you pay for the hardwire FM modulator, you can probably buy a nice new HU with more options like USB and a front mounted Aux In. The stock HU is probably the weakest part of the stock system so with a new HU, you'll probably get much better sound.

I have a couple. One I carry is really nice and even has a remote control. Has 206FM stations to choose from so you should be able to find one that has minimal noise. I did when I used it in my wife's truck and she loved it.

This is a good modulator though, at least it worked very well in my wifes vehicle. I was able to find a good station within a few trys that came in pretty clear. Plus with 206 FM stations to choose from, finding one that is good shouldn't be too hard.
I also like the remote. It works well and is very thin. Basically upgrades your stock radio to have all the aftermarket multimedia features. I also had a friend plug her iPod into it and it worked well. Pretty cool little unit.
