Default Sensor below hatch speaker

I am looking at upgrading the speakers in my car along with the head unit and adding a sub. While I had my passenger side hatch speaker panel off I noticed a little box mounted to the top side of the wheel well, that said "Sensor". The wires coming from this sensor go into the wire bundle for the speakers. Does anyone happen to know what this "sensor" is for?

Thanks

I think its the alarm sensor. It can be adjusted to how much "shock" will set the alarm off.

hmmm, maybe I will go adjust it to try it out. Another question though, does a z28 have a factory amp? I was reading around and I read somewhere that it is on the passenger side in front of the spare tire, but I don't see anything.

If you have the monsoon then you have the amp. It is located in front of the shock sensor.

It's the shock sensor for the factory alarm, messing with the sensitivity is pretty much worthless.

Not if it's a factory alarm. All LS1 f-body coupes had the shock sensor on the right (passenger) side wheel well in front of the spare tire. There is a photo in the Monsoon FAQ sticky.

Wow, now I feel stupid. It shows it right there. I really never thought of even looking in that FAQ because I am redoing the whole system. Thanks for pointing it out.
