Navigation systems... looking for advice

Navigation systems... looking for advice I'm looking for a GPS navigation system that has the following parameters:
1. DVD/CD drive for map software
2. RCA outputs (I already have a roof-mount monitor)
3. GPS antenna
Any ideas? Money really isn't an object.

Well most good navigation systems use DVDs and wont have RCA outputs because they use a RGB video cable similar to computer monitors. I have used and installed navigation systems by Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine, and Magallen. I prefer the Alpine as they can integrate with your audio system if you use an indash monitor. The Kenwood is nice because of the touch screen but I find the Alpine is more accurate and much easier to follow directions. Pioneers navigation is crappy. Magallen nav systems are good but are stand alone systems making them integrate well into a car without looking tacked on is kind of hard. All nav systems come with a GPS antenna.

Tars7; thanks. I found one hell of a site for auto PCs. For less than the cost of a dedicated navigation system, I got a fully functional PC for my car. It includes a 7" LCD touchscreen monitor, a GPS navigation system, a DVD player, and both WiFi and Bluetooth. Imagine running AutoTap and LS1Edit right from the car! Now my wife is really pissed off!

BTW, I'll post a detailed installation diary, which will include custom mounting (I'm putting the LCD below the radio; all drives will be in the center caddy; the PC will be in the trunk), software comfiguration (GPS and MIS Digital Dash), and network/bluetooth setup.

I started work on my CarPuter today. It will incorporate a 10.4" LCD touchscreen display mounted in the dash and all that good stuff, cant wait!
I have a question though, what are you using to power your carputer? Just a standard inverter or a dc-dc power supply?

It's just the standard DC-DC power supply, which will be mounted to an auxillary fuse box. Through the use of Visual C++ and Eagle PCB fabricator, I'm going to use it to control all functions of the car. This is going to include voiceprint activation and security. It's a long project, but I'm still waiting for it to get here! It's not an original idea. One was created out of a Gen 3 Camaro on a Star Trek theme. I saw it years ago in Vegas. It's actually really cool, once you think about it.
