Default Rain kicked my *** last weekend......

So the back of my hatch area where my amp is mounted had 2 inches of water in it after a monsoon came through for 15 hours straight....

The amp was barely touching the water but everything was moist in there.

So now when I turn the power on the music starts, then stays on for about 1-2 seconds, then a pop in all the speakers, and it goes off. I have to turn the power button off then back on and the same thing happens. I have my stock Monsoon deck.....

What do you think..........do I have a torched amp now?

Should I open it up and look for water in it?

Only if you know what to do once you have it open. If it turns on and then pops it not blown, sounds like the safety is kicken in. I'd just let it dry out a week or so before you use it and risk further damage.

On a side note I have the same problem in my 98, rear passeneger seat well and spare tire fill with water but only if I drive. I have no friggen idea where its coming from. I don see in marks from it dripping in up high and the floors sealed with Raammat so im lost.

Thanks...I'll remove it and open it and let it dry out.

I think I'm going to drill two holes in that back t-top well and run two 5/8" heater hose straight down a few inches so water can drain out in case that happens again. I'm a pilot and sometimes I go on 1-2 week trips and the car sits in my driveway.

I have a factory drain hole in my spare tire well for water to drain out....you don't have that?
Mine has a rubber grommet and that grommet has a center hole in it.

If the water is entering your car and settling on footwell and under rear seats, your drains are clogged. Usually should clean it out twice a year and definitely after fall. I 'd let the amp just sit for sometime in room temperature.

DAMN......I just went out to take the amp out, open it up and let it sit in the house to dry.

The damn well had about 1/2" of water in it. It just rained yesterday and last night a little bit. I've never in 13 1/2 years had any water, let alone moisture in my car.

My floor boards are dry.........just water in the well in the rear hatch. What the hell.

Maybe a leak in the back glass seal. My spare tire well is bone dry too. Just the well. The walls all around the well are dry too, so I can't feel where it may have dripped down into the well.

Wierd.......

Could it have leaked in by the antenna?

I checked that...its sealed. No way it could get into the well if it did leak through there though, it would drip down into the quarter panel where the spare tire is....then out the drain hole.

If you happen to have parked on a reverse incline with the tail of the car high, there's the possibility that water collected in the hatch rain channel instead of draining out the back like it's supposed to. I had backed into my driveway during a heavy rain and the next day the channel was full of water and my alarm shock sensor was toast from water spilling onto it.

Same here. I realized it after it happended to me twice. My drive has a decline from house to the sidewalk. If I'm backed in when it raining I will definately have water in my rear seat floor boards. Mainly when it rains real hard or long.

I was completely level both times.

But your issue:
Even if the water backs up in the two side channels....how is it getting in? I would think it would back up, but where is it squeezing into the cabin?

I've had issues with water getting into my rear hatch, it just fills up where the t-tops go. I'm clueless where the water is getting in from. Recently, I put more adhesive on my waterstripping. Hope that solves my problem.
