Sorta answering here...

I did a huge wiring purge on my car including the amp and shock sensor wiring (antenna wire too) and have no ill effects from chopping/taping them under the dash!

Good luck,

D

Thanks for the answers guys. I actually just did it tonight. I wanted to remove every wire by the pins in the harnesses. I took the wires from the shock sensors all the way to the dash and the wires from the amp to the harness that plugs into the stereo. I have two black wires that I can't seem to fish through and one orange. So should I just cut and tape those 3? Also, with the shock sensor, two wires ran under the center of the dash while two went behind the glove box. Same with them? Cut and tape?

I would have never guessed how big a project this would turn into or how many wires go to that amp!

chances are the orange is a power wire and the blacks are grounds...
multimeter test the orange one with the key on and off... just in case you're finding a hot-wire key controlled and can use it for something else later. Check the blacks to ground and they should be 0 ohms and probably leave them too for easy to find grounds later. Just my thoughts.

Yeah I tries to last night but I seem to have misplaced my multimeter. I'll check them tonight but it did appear to be down to power and grounds. Thanks again. I don't need to do anything more to the switched power than tape it up, right?

That would work. IF you get motivated, play w/the fuses and see what it is tapped off of and maybe label it for later too. Even wire nuts from house wiring would work for simplicity

Hate to add another question, but I pulle as many wires all the way back through to the main harness that plugs into the stereo. I've removed wires from the harnesses by removing the pins but that was in other cars. I was having a lot of trouble completely removing the wires. How exactly dono do this? It's been a whole.
