V1 and false hits........... There are 3 or 4 levels of sensitivity to work with and if you use them many "in Town hits" go away. In my world speeding in town is no fun, dangerous and ..... you get the idea. For me a radar detector in town is to advise me where the coppers are as more often than not they leave the gun on all of the time. Because I drink and drive responsibly, yes it is possible, the directional arrows are a must so I can be on my toes and know where they are within 90 degrees. Problem with drinking and driving responsibly is that very fine line of somewhat relaxed and .08. Hits from retail are tough to get away from but V1 highest filter does a good job. Problem I have is to remember to go back to ultra sensitive when I am out of town doing the dirty deed and enjoying a speed run. In the most sensitive setting "A" I stand by my previous post of getting a glimmer and a blip only to have a direct laser hit within .5 to 2 miles down the road. Ultra sensitive "A" in town will get you crazy with hits but when I am in the country and get a blip (because of my remote display in direct line of site I see direction as well) it is the gospel and I am amazed at times how far away the man was when I eventually come across him. Sometimes as much as 1+ mile. V1 and LS1, MADE IN THE USA!

Honestly both of the radar dectors are really good. It also depends on the driving you do. If you are doing mostly city get the 9500ix because of the lockout feature is nice and you don't get falses constantly. If you are doing a lot of highway get the v1 because it does have a longer range. Both dectors will give you plenty of time to slow down from a cop. Both detectors are amazing imo

Just thought id through in my 2 sense. I have had a x50 9500 escort, rx65 beltronics and now have a valentine V1 radar. I love the v1 over the others that i have had. The real cool thing is that the Valentine V1 will interface with the Heads up display that Dashtronix sales that you connect to your diagnostic port. It works with the Grand Prix Gxp, New Camaro, Corvette HUDS!! The display on the valentine will be blank, and every time is picks up a signal it shows on the HUD which direction Etc. Im about to get one!!!

I've used a V1 for years...when my Camaro sold recently, I made sure that I kept that detector. Otherwise, I would have been paying another $400 to replace it for use in my Viper.

One thing I noticed a couple years ago around here was a rather large increase in what I thought were false signals. After looking a little more closely, I realized that the city had installed a rather large array of speed measuring devices around the interstates and state highways to monitor traffic flow. In the end, the radar detector was reporting only what it saw...I just failed to realize that the city had taken such measures to keep tabs on the roads. I probably would have never known otherwise either since they aren't the easiest things to spot (aside from the small solar panels that power them).

Upgrading your V1 will help prevent those falses if you are so inclined. It's $90 for me to upgrade mine, but I don't come across those intersections enough for it to bother me enough to pay $90. Depending on what version you have, it could be more expensive for you.

How long has this upgrade been available? I just noticed it on Valentine's website, but I haven't checked for an upgrade in a long time...thanks for the heads up. I think the last time I sent it in for an upgrade, it was to get their POP mode protection, and that was many years ago.

Yeah i got my x50 at a yard sale for $50, sometimes it works amazing, sometimes it sucks. one time i was sitting in a parking lot and their was a wooden fence in front of my car and it went off and a minute later a cop drove by, soo it is decent. I just want the best, besides the ones that cost over $1000
