Default Which Radar Detector: 9500ix or V1 ?

I have been doing all kinds of research and watching video's on youtube and i just can't decide which one is the better choice. I know both detectors are great but which one is better, or is it the case of this one is better for this and the other one is better for that ? Right now i have a passport 8500 X50 and it's not bad, but once i start driving my camaro and park the stationwagon i want the best protection when i'm speeding.

My brother has a V1, his friend has a 9500xi. Side by side in his STi, they both pick up the same signals at the same time. Only advantage he saw was the directionality of the V1.

I think the arrows are cool but someone made a good point and said that it's not really needed, if you hear the warning you slowdown, but it's still cool. I have had my mind set on the V1 for a long time but i have heard about 9500 too soo idk which one. The V1 is cheaper too.

the gps on the 9500ix is great especially if you do more city driving, and the auto learn feature is nice. Escort also has the new escortlive out, where it can run off your smartphone and see where current cops are.

I have 2 V1s. 1 in each car, cannot live without it.
On road performance is mind boggling. I have been on the interstate in the middle of nowhere and had a forward blip so i slowed. Sure as sh##t a mile or so later on the other side of a ridge, bam I was hit with lazer, can't explain it but true story. Over the years I have many stories to tell that are similar.
The hardware: 1 of them is 14 years old and the other 10. Both have given flawless daily service. In an ad I read about upgrading a V1 to as new condition.
I called and they both can be upgraded to "good as new" and be warranted as new for $189.00 ea.
How cool is that and made in the USA.

Directional arrows, are a must have, as they say "situation awareness". Think about it a minute, tail gunner, on the nose or an angled threat, a person does need to respond differently.
Not only are the arrows great for speeding ticket avoidance but with directional awareness around town I know where the cop is so I can be on my toes if I have had a beer or 2. Otherwise you know they are near, just NO IDEA as to where.
Then there is the remote display for $40. I speed constantly and sometimes 10-20+ if conditions are right on a split 4 lane. With my remote display somewhat hidden I do not end up with as many free riders holding onto my bumper. Others just think I am crazy and do not keep pace. FYI, In both vehicles I am hard wired off of the mirror. My head unit is mounted via cups on the windshield just below the mirror to get max forward and rear exposure and my display sits on my dash dead center above the speedo in perfect line of site.
Just reread this post and it sounds like I have a vested interest. I do not, I just really love their product and their excellent cust service. When u r on hold with V1 waiting for a rep, Mike the owner of the company checks back with you every 30-45 secs. I **** you not. My wait time was about 3 minutes.

This topic has been discussed everywhere. The v1 is top of the line. I love mine, but it can use a little more work on filtering . It's beeps at almost every intersection. What mode/setting does everyone have theirs set as??

Very hard decision but I'd pick the 9500ix! The V1 is a great and all but it's so outdated hell just look at the damn thing and you can see that it, it literally has 1 feature(directionality which is overated IMO) compared to the 9500ix which is FULL of features and pretty much performs the same. I heard the V1 has longer range on x-band and bit better laser detection, but I'd be willing to trade those minute differences for the features on the 9500ix b/c the range is still hella long on x-band and if you get lasered anyway your already caught and neither's going to help you.

Imagine driving at night with your V1 and it goes off but all you see is a damn lil bulb/led light lit up and an arrow, hell you can't even see what band it is unless you got the row of lights memorized where as the 9500ix has a beautiful bright, blue LCD display to read including GPS and will even show your mph for those extremely fast spirited runs where you wanna know exactly how fast your going.

V1 all the way...It tells you which direction the cop is, you learn from the sound it makes whether it's a cop or not compared to something else.
As for a previous post saying it pre-warned of a laser....that doesn't happen unless your in-line with the vehicle being targeted or it's yourself in which case it's to late.
Not sure on what radar bands you guys have there but there's a lot of different modes that can be altered to stop false warnings, just download the relevant info instructions.

Wow still got a toss up here, they both sound soo great. If I had tons of money and I giant windshield I would just buy both and maybe pay someone to hit the mute botton on false alarms haha. But with my 8500 I always just keep it on highway mode. I haven't messed with customized settings. It does get annoying with all the false alarms and I know exactly where they are on several routes I travel a lot, if I get the 9500 I'll be sure to set them. I honestly don't know much about all the different bandsthats why mine is only on highway. I wonder how auto mode works ? Does the 9500 have the downloadable version updates like the v1 ?

So, any of you passport guys lay down big $ a few years ago and now have an antiquated dead end product? In short order my 14 YO V1 detector will be same as 2011 technology for less than 2 bills. Yep, LS1 and V1 MADE IN THE USA!
On the other hang, it would be the best to have 1 side by on the windshield. Best of both worlds.
Regarding the previous post on laser warnings the comment is spot on to what reviews would say, but I am talking real world personal experience. 1st time in FL i ignored the weird stray blip and gtot tagged. A few years later I paid attention knowing I do not get false alerts in the country and it saved my hide that time from a poor man's game of LAZER tag.

I say V1. Admittedly I do not have a 9500* but I have an 8500 X50 and a V1 and there is no comparison. The V1 makes the X50 look like a $50 Cobra. I've sent it back for tweaking and its had its antenna assembly replaced by Escort. They claim it works up to par. I claim it sucks. V1 for life. And by life I mean until something better comes around...

I feel the same way. I keep getting false laser detections with my 8500 X50. Its really annoying. When funds allow for it im going to a V1 and not looking back.

My 8500 x50 gives off a lot of false alarms too. If you get the v1 anytime soon please let me know how it does. I won't be upgrading my radar till spring when I bring out my camaro.

I don't actually get many falses from my X50. If anything, my V1 falses way more (on radar particularly - I don't/didn't get all that many laser falses from either). And V1 is actually known to false more. It has less filtering. That's the good thing about it. It's got less filtering but better detection, especially off axis. And while some people will tell you it doesn't matter, honestly, I've come to love the arrows that tell you which direction the source(s) is/are and the "bogey counter."

My X50 had NO off-axis performance and its range sucked. I sent it in twice for "repair" and they tuned it the first time, said it was fine. Replaced the antenna assembly the second time, said it was fine. I have no idea if it's up to par for an X50, but it's a POS.

All I know is my V1 works great. If the X50 is working as intended, it just sucks. If it's broken, then Escort sucks because they're incompetent. Either way is a win for V1 and a big loss for Escort.

They keep sending me marketing **** as if I'm gonna buy another one of their shitty products. LOL.

See I have both the v1 and 9500ix . My v1 broke but the passport works fine . To me v1's quality lacks. But I could have gotten a "lemon" lol

Don't know if its been said but direction is nice cause yeah you don't want to slam on the brakes and have a cop see that behind you, better to coast it out imo, but if there in front defiantly.

I have some sort of beltronics 955, 995 or something and idk it does fine, but ive ran into more cops that use lasers, its saved me a bunch of times but at the same time there are many situations where its straight up useless. I've been considering just selling it..

I have had two 9500ix and just got my first V1 today. The 9500ix is just poor imo after having one for so long. Really the range is garbage, and the gps feature really doesnt really benefit much. The arrows are AMAZING!
