I'm redoing whole stereo system in my 02 z28. Have a nice alpine headunit. Now I'm in the market for some new speakers. Anyone have any suggestions?

Me too. Monsoon is tired and old. I have a blown RF, and my L sail is dead. I have the Alpine CDA 9656 w/ 4 speakers, two amps & a 10" JL sub in my 2006 Z71, that I have really enjoyed. The Ipod cable / interface is nice. The more i read about patching up the monsoon, the more I'm inclined to go all aftermarket. The only positive thing about monsoon HU is it looks period correct.
I have only put 2500 miles on this car in 2 years,so I am not going to spend that much on this car's audio, but the blown speakers and lack of bass isn't working for me.

I just replaced all my speakers with Kee Audio's premium speaker package and it is a major improvement over stock. They would sound even better if I would have upgraded the head unit and amp.
The premium package might be overkill with the stock amps.
Ian also had some tips that helped. All my contacts with him were through email.

I highly recomend kee audio, I spoke with Ian thru emails and he was very nice and helpful, told me different routes and setups I could go with until I figured out what I wanted.

Do alpine speakers, I am getting a pioneer sub in stealthbox and running an alpine amp to it, if you have cash get a kicker amp. AMAZON for stereo equip, prices are great!

I like Alpine type S as entry level, then Hertz Deici's, then JL C2's , then JL C3's...then I jump way up in price to a Hertz Energy, then Hertz High Energy, then Audison Voce, then on top are the Hertz Mille's
your budget will decided which speakers to go with, but sticking with that recipe has gotten me great results every time. that list is in ascending prices. of course there are plenty of other decent speakers in all of those price ranges. other preferred brands include CDT, Focal, and some Pioneer stuff; but I like to stick with Alpine, JL and Hertz/Audison
if you are going to add amps and subs, the JL W3's, like you mentioned, are an awesome sub they have great SQ and good output. however if your just after BASS and ultimate SQ isn't a goal then I'd go with an Alpine Type R sub it will take more power and hit allot harder...or just use the stock sub location with the 6" kicker subs and put them on a decent amp.
as far as amps, depending on the speakers you go with, I'd reccomend the Alpine MRX or PDX amps, and it only goes up from there...JL's aren't worth the extra cash over the Alpine amps, they are all D class and sound very similar; but a Class A/B amp is better for SQ
BTW...SQ = Sound Quality in audiophile jargon
