Default Push Button Start Install

I am planning to install a push button start in my 2000 camaro M6. I will post pics of my progress and most likely a video of the final product.

Ordered my swag last night from a local parts dealer, just waiting on a call back for arrival.

should be sexy

Here's the write-up I followed for my install. To keep the key working, don't completely cut the yellow ignition wire as the instructions show, just splice/tap into it.

The link is posted above yours.

Also If you want to change the color of the light that shines through the button just replace the LED thats in there. Mine glows blue when the lights are on.

What relay is the one it shows here? The one that connects to the yellow wire. Does it comes with the button or you need to but it separately? Any part number for it?

I just used a regular 30amp 12v relay.

If you want to get super technical you can install a RFID in your car to eliminate all keys and only use a little proximity card/whatever it will look like.

So when you do this do you have to have the key in the ignition in order to start the car or could anyone just get into your car, if it was open or if they break it, and just push the start button and drive off?

Another idea with the proximity card would be to mount a reader right on the other side of your door panel and have it unlock the car for you if you just put the card up next to it. I think that would be pretty cool.

If anyone could just jump in and drive away, this would be useless to install. What the point of having a key in the ignition to push a start button, You may as well forget about the start button, sounds stupid to me. The proximity card would be the only option IMO.
