Exclamation Window Issue!!!! Need help fast

Im selling the car this week and i ran into an issue. I have a Viper alarm on the car. Now, the window will go up and down using the viper remote and will go up using the door switch (but not down). I checked the switch and its getting power when i press the down button so it isnt the switch but the window will not go down. I noticed when i press the down button, i hear a clicking underneath the dash. Any ideas on what it could be/

The clicking is the express down module under the dash. This would imply that the switch is working and there is a wiring fault in the wires connecting it to the motor.

Check your alarm...that is a anti theft feature. So someone can't put a coat hannger in and open the window.

The windows don't work without the key in the "ON" position anyway.

I'm not denying that. Although it could just be a bad connection anywhere between the button and the motor.

I'm just saying that the only time those buttons work is when the key is in the "ON" position so it wouldn't make sense for the alarm to lockout those buttons in that scenario unless there is a fault/failure somewhere (because then you'd never be able to use those buttons).

...although...

VIP1, you are correct for normal window wiring but if the Viper alarm has been set up so that the remote can control the windows, it has probably been rewired to battery power to give it control of the windows without the ignition being on so that they can be raised or lowered with the remote. It is possible that the clicking we all assume is the express down module is actually the alarm brain with a malfunctioning relay for the window control.

Touché.

This one is going to require some detective work. Time to rip the door and dash apart!

See the thing that gets me is the windows will go down with no problem when the car is off/keys in my hand by using the remote. the passenger side goes down fine also, its just the driver side that will not go down with the switch. I guess i will have to swing into the place that installed it to see what they say. Its just the point of finding time to do it... I guess the car will be sold next weekend instead of tomorrow

You say you have power at the switch... did you test for power coming out of the switch when pressed to the down position?

You should have input power on the brown wire (pin F) whenever RAP is active (ignition on or until the door is opened - like the radio). When the switch is in the down position you should have power output on the light blue wire (pin E) and ground on the dark blue wire (pin D). When the switch is in the up position those two will be reversed... light blue to ground and dark blue gets power.

A bad switch would explain all the symptoms.

Yes i tested the wire when i pressed the down button and it had power to it when depressed. Im dropping it off at the installer and he said he would fix it for free.
