Racetronix fuel pump and now the fuel gauge doesn't read right.
I know what probably happened, just trying to confirm I didn't jack the sensor itself up, but I put the the Racetronix 255 pump in, and now at Full the gauge reads just under 3/4 of a tank.
is it likely that the sensor itself (being a 98 and all) didn't like the extra movement involved in pulling the assembly to swap pumps out and is now needing replaced?
Or is it more likely that the arm is just bent and not reading right?
extra info:
I had half a tank reading prior to the install, after it read 1/4, and then I filled it all the way and it read 3/4. Everything else works great though

these sending units are notoriously wonky......there is a LOT of slop in the bushing that holds the sending unit to the pump......which in turn does not let those little fingers contact the board .....as a fix on mine i disassembled the unit and bent the fingers back to ensure contact and compressed the bushing more to lessen the slop.......my gauge is still wonky but but not as much.....you can get a new sending unit........but for the price of it i would get a new bucket assm from racetronix......that is a future fix for me
the 98 dont have a bucket but i think they still use the same sending unit
