I'm basic certified! Going for my advanced here pretty soon, but I haven't had a whole lot of time to study because of school. I work at Best Buy as an installer. We do quite a bit of custom work, all of the Best Buy's from up and down the I-5 corridor send us the more complicated jobs. Custom fabbed an Android tablet in a dash a couple months back, looked like factory! And of course we do decks, remote starts, alarms, speakers, subs, etc. on a daily basis.

Does bestbuy do lojack or something like it? What alarm do you guys recommend to prevent typical parked car smash&grabs/rip&runs? I dont want to do any stereo work until I can make it less tempting to little thug thieves.

Thats really cool how many of you guys are at a Best Buy. Thats where I got started 2.5 years ago, and learned a lot from the guys that were there. I got my basic cert while I was there and then moved to a local shop after BBY turned down my request to start building boxes and other custom work. Its really awesome that some of you there can do so much custom work.
Heres a link to our facebook page that shows some of my older installs. when I get home I will load some of the more recent stuff up.

You can get a lot of stuff. The Viper two-way systems are good, and you should get one with multiple inputs if you really wants to add stuff. Most alarms will come with a shock sensor, but you can also add on proximity sensors, glass break sensors, Tilt Sensors. You can also get a Piezo siren aka "Pain Generator" to put sirens inside your car, as well as get a backup battery just incase someone is smart and disconnect your battery to kill the alarm.
