Sub Problem

Ok I have a 12inch alpine type R with a Alpine V-Power 500W amp hooked into a 2Farad capacitor.....the problem is the capacitor keeps reading LO and shuts off the sub and I have no idea why.....Grounds to and from the cap and amp are secure and the main inline fuse from the battery to amp is ok......it just shuts off and it happens intermittently...what is wrong ? The stereo head is a pioneer avh 8400bh

Try eliminating the cap from the circuit and see if the problem goes away. That will tell you two things - the cap is bad and caps are useless anyway.

I second the capacitor, I'm running 2 10" pioneer subs off a jl 700w amp which is hooked to my 12 yr old interstate battery and it's flawless.

caps are crap and cause more headlight dimming then they solve (based on personal experience), that said how close to your sub is your amp, the Alpine amp I had randomly one day started making the sub sound like crap and I moved it about a foot further from the sub and it went back to normal, never seen that in any other brand.

My amp, sub, and cap are all inches from each other and less than 2 feet of wire in between each ....what is the amps on your alternator mine is the stock 102 or 105 ...it was 145 when I first got the car but all the OER that advanced will give me are the smaller ones >.<
