Red ones. They handle 18-22 gauge wire.

Awesome deal, I'm assuming that goes for the butt connectors as well. Can't wait, should be fun.

Yes, all insulated connectors use the same color coding. Red for 18 to 22 gauge, blue for 14 to 16 gauge and yellow for 10 to 12 gauge.

So everything came in except for the steering wheel interface, that should come on Tuesday. I decided to start the install to make sure everything works. Well everything went ok for being my first time installing a HU except that it wouldn't fit all the way cause of the bracket in the back so I had to use the extension of the dash kit that makes it look ugly.

My connector work....

How it stands...

Go ahead and cut (or bend out of the way) the factory rear support bracket. Almost every aftermarket head unit is deeper than the factory one so that bracket gets in the way. You'll never need it unless you plan to put the OEM head unit back at some point.

Avoid Sonic whenever possible - they deal in "grey market" product (items they are unauthorized to sell) and most products purchased there come without manufacturer's warranty. In fact, several major manufacturers have specifically mentioned on their websites that products purchased at Sonic Electronix are without warranty. You might save a few dollars up front but you'll regret it when you have to spend the same again to replace an item if it fails.

So I ended up buying the Metra 99-3300 from Best Buy and it was still about 1/2 inch short so I just grabbed pliers and ripped that annoying bracket off, mission accomplished and perfect flush ......

Nice finish! You should defiantly hear a noticeable difference in audio quality. Your speakers still stock?

Ya stock speakers, audio does sound a lot better, great quality like always from Alpine. Next project will be sub/amp, debating if I should upgrade speakers too or keep stock.

If you do it, I suggest getting all your stuff done at the same time. Right now I'm in the middle of installing sound deadener in my car and this has gotta be the 4th time I'm tearing out the interior (1st to clean, 2nd to upgrade speakers, 3rd to wire sub/amp, 4th to install sound deadener).

Hope it will be my last for a while

Sound deadening might be a bit much for me but if I went with sounds, I'll prolly just upgrade the front speakers, get a 10" Type R with mono amp and possibly 4 channel amp for speakers.

*envious*

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to my car as I want everything to work perfectly. Useless steering wheel buttons are slowly driving me crazy

Ya man same with me. Last couple days was driving me nuts trying to push the volume/mute buttons out of habit and knowing they didn't work made me and the car incomplete. Were you able to get yours resolved?
