Buying headunit. Update!!!! I'm in the market to upgrade my stock sound system, going to start with the headunit. I've decided to go with the Alpine CDE-143BT and know I would need the dash kit, wiring harness, antenna adaptor and steering wheel control. I'm getting everything via Ebay so just want to know if the parts are legit especially for the dash kit, etc.

Ya I'm a bit skeptical about the steering wheel interface, I here the Axxess is better and easier programming. This will be my first time installing alone so just had couple questions about installing.....which is the 12-volt accessory wire, one that turns on and off with the ignition key for the red wire?

I assume you are going to be using the harness so it will connect to your factory harness with no cutting on the vehicle side. Also most Alpines i have saw are color coded wires as well. On the black connector the orange wire is hot at all times and the yellow wire is switched. there is also a switched accessory port in the fuse box where the red wire is on mine that powers my 2step.

I'm literally installing the Axxess interface on mine right now and it is a PITA. Looks like it detects the vehicle but not my head unit. Contacting tech support now...
As for your stuff, remember the antenna adapter but yet that looks right.

What headunit are you using? That sucks, hoping it isn't too difficult to install. Is the female connector with brown wire used?

Where do u connect the black and red wire? I kno it's the ground and power but what is it exactly?

Just get all the wires that need power, splice (I crimped them) to the power cable. Same with ground and all other wires.
Yes it gets easier. Just make sure to print out a schematic of all the wiring for your head unit. You don't want to incorrectly splice wires...

I didn't literally mean to splice those two together lol, was referring in general if I splice the black wire to the ground chassis and red wire to power source. I'm just stuck on what exactly is the ground and vice versa.

Take some time to browse through the tutorials at Basic Car Audio Electronics before you go cutting and splicing wires. If you aren't familiar with terms like "red to 12V accessory power" then it will give you a good starting education and hopefully keep you from burning your car to the ground.

The wiring isn't too difficult once you get it in your hands. I always obsess about the wiring before I get new audio equipment. This year, I've installed new Pioneer head units in my 2010 Impala (which also needed a GM LAN High Speed Stereo Replacement Interface & steering wheel controls interface), and my Camaro (needed the Bose interface, which is being removed this weekend after the new speakers arrived yesterday) and both installations went very smooth. For my Impala, I connected the wiring from the harness adapter to the interfaces (mentioned above) one evening, then installed the head unit in the parking lot on my lunch hour at work - took me 30 minutes to pop off the console plate, bolt & hook everything up, and button it all back up. The Camaro took longer because I was wiring in new speakers as well.
