when sliding the sub in angle it so the side with the wire goes thru the opening as early as possible, if that doesn't work just cut a length of speaker wire to use as a jumper.

Default Update!!!!

Spacer came in today and gave it a perfect flush.

Sub wired up at 2ohms, ready to go.

Spray painted the spacer flat black, giving the set up a clean look; sub perfectly mounted.

Ready for full installation tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Hell yea it does, can't wait to hear it. I still haven't figured out the amp install just yet, gonna try to Velcro it somewhere near the spare area.

actually no, you are wired at 4 ohm. it is physically impossible for you to be wired at 2 ohm, your sub is a DUAL 2 OHM so your options are either 4 ohm or 1 ohm.

you have the SWR-10D2 that is a dual 2 ohm, to wire at 2 ohm you would need the SWR-10D4 that is a dual 4 ohm that you could then wire in parallel (as pictured you are wired in series) and be at 2 ohm.

I must've said it wrong then, I was following the diagram from crutchfield and the Alpine manual, suppose to be 2 ohm DVC sub to 4 ohm load for the amp.

You have yours wired in a series reducing power to the sub, but thats how it should be wired in your case, since your amp isnt powerful enough to feed that sub at 1ohm.

It should sounds good! Im waiting for my swr-10d4 to arrive monday. PM me where you ordered the spacer, i think i might end up needing one too. I went with a setup very similar to yours

Yea I really wasn't sure which sub to get, 2 ohm or 4 ohm so just ended up with the 2 ohm. Hopefully it all sounds good.

well with the dual 2 ohm, since the amp is only 2 ohm stable, you are forced to run it at 4 ohm (as you have it wired) this causes the amp to only output 300 watts RMS, if you had gotten the dual 4 ohm then you could have wired it in parallel and been at a 2 ohm load and be getting 500 watts RMS from your amp, either way would be fine but for a single sub setup the dual 4 made more sense as it allowed you to wire it to get the most out of your amp, I would suggest in the future that you could find a 1 ohm stable more powerful amp to push the sub if you decide you want more as the sub is rated to 1,000 watt RMS. That said you could also get a second dual 2 ohm and using a combination of series/parallel wiring and end up with a 2 ohm load and get the 500 RMS split between the 2 (this would be doing a passenger side stealth box to match the driver side one).

That's why I asked in the beginning if I was getting the right sub, no one said anything about 2 or 4 ohms lol.

Does a 4 ohm sub sound better then a 2 ohm or is just about the amount of power being received from the amp? I'm starting to dislike my set up now

Will T-Tops still fit in the back with the spacer? It's a tight fit in mine with no spacer.

I honestly think it should be fine, I test fitted the box yesterday and was nicely snug without cutting any carpet. It's going to be right next to my ttop though when I decide to put them on the storage.

Really hard to start installing when it's 12 degrees outside, thinking about putting space heater in the garage. Damn Chicago.

there are advantages and disadvantages to both subs, it just depends on the amp, with the amp you have the power output is less (because you are forced to wire at 4 ohm) so a dual 4 ohm would technically be louder as it gets more power from the amp, but having a dual 2 ohm sub allows the chance to get a 1 ohm stable amp in the future and get lots of power out of it.

I for the longest time had a single dual 4 sub and an amp capable of 1 ohm so I finally got 2 dual 4's so I could wire to 1 ohm.

Finally was able to install everything, took me about 10 hours but was mission accomplished. The set up sounds killer, still gotta tweak it a little bit but overall I like it.

The sub sticks out a tad cause of the spacer so had a problem with the ttop but I'll adjust it more at a later time and gotta clean the wires more.

I wanted to put the amp where the spare tire was at but the ground wire was too short so just put on the center bed like I originally wanted to.
