02 WS6 IPOD Head Unit
I just picked up another f-body and it is bone stock with 40k miles. Looking to upgrade the stock monsoon radio with something that I can use my ipod with. I know that is a pretty easy task but I have some criteria that needs to be met. Currently overseas so it is a bit difficult to sit down and research myself so I am looking for help.
I need it to be clean looking and if it has lights... they have to be able to match the rest of the red interior lights. Its a big deal to me for the new radio to look like it could be from the factory. So NO crazy lights, motorized faces or crazy buttons. I don't mind if it is touch screen or double din as long as it has a clean look.
I was looking at the Appradio 4 by Pioneer but I saw some bad reviews on it. Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated!
Also, do I just need to run a double din bezel for it to fit and that is all?

I have the sph-da120 (appradio4) and I honestly love it. I have not had one single issue with it. What I have had some slight issues with is Carplay, but after the firmware update from Pioneer and IOS 8.3 from Apple, I think I have the problem with Carplay narrowed down to just the Rdio app I use all the time, so the Rdio people need to update their app to fix the bugs. I dont have any issues with any other aspect of Carplay outside of Rdio and the pioneer nex UI has been rock solid. I dont use Bluetooth alot because Im mostly just on Carplay, but the bluetooth has always connected and sounds nearly as good as being plugged in. The screen is bright and crisp and very responsive. You do get a little wash out if bright sunlight is shining right on it, but thats been rare. You can make the buttons red and for the IU they do have a red theme for the screen graphics as well.
I read alot of reviews on this before I bought and saw alot of negatives. But I bought anyways, as most of people trashing this HU sounded like a 1st grader or were bitching about having to hook up a USB and HDMI cable to play video.
As for the bezel I made my own. I didnt like any alternatives you could buy, I wanted to keep the exact contours of the factory bezel. The Firebird/TA double din bezels look better, the Camaros, not so much.
