Default Stealth box build / install with full system

I purchased a stealth box and was not impressed at all with the fitment. So I sent back and just built my own. A little bit of test fitting and came together quickly after that. I went ahead and replaced all the interior speakers and put an older sony 4ch amp I had laying around on them. Mounted 4ch to back side of trunk and mount 2ch sub amp in same location as the factory. Added a new head unit too. Sub is a jlaudio w0, sounds a lot better than expected and has a nice clean/clear sound with plenty of lows. Nothing too special here though.

Fitment of purchased box.....note how the panel sits way too high. And yes that's as low as it will go. Name: 20150110_112510_zpsfvhkl9g2.jpg

Wrapped in extra vinyl I had laying around and sprayed/dyed to match as close as I could to interior. Never liked the carpeted look.

use the flush mount that came with the 6501 tweeters to mount the tweeter in the door pod properly (like pictured here), also the 651s are the wrong type of speaker for the sail panels, you'll likely notice most of the sound is coming from behind you and you have to fade the radio to the front (assuming your using the 4 channel to run them).

I actually found the po put some older polks in the sail panels. I left them in there because they put out more mids/lows compared to the 561s.as for the tweeters, was more trouble to use the the tweeter mount that it came with them on these panels. .No big deal to me, still has plenty of hi's and didn't seem to affect the sound with the door panel partially off.

it's more about the cleanness of the install for mounting the tweeters in the door pods and reinstall the cover over the larger opening, leaving the door panel how you have it makes it look like crap from an appearance stand point, the goal of every install should be to make it look as factory as possible and you did such a good job blending the sub box in to then turn around and have the doors look like you just literally tossed the tweeters in there so everyone can see past the interior paneling to the parts behind just looks bad, I had those same tweeters, it is very little work to use there mount and gives a much cleaner look.

Thanks for the compliment on the box.....the factory grills are on, I just snapped a picture of them w/out the grills. I like a clean/factory looking setup, which is why i went through the trouble to hide the sub amp and mount it with same bracket as factory amp. No way I'd go without putting those factory covers back on. Most speaker grills never look nice enough to use anyways. I do understand what you mean by a cleaner install, this was a quick weekend job (speaker box build with amps and so on) and I looked at how the factory tweeters were mounted and was an easy switchover.

I didn't bother mounting the enclosure. I've kept an eye on it and it hasn't budged. I do enjoy taking turns fast and so on, never had any issues. I do occasionally whip the rear end around if nobody's around. I haven't done any road courses yet.

Sorry I didn't take any. I used cardboard for the face of it where it mounts and test fit the other pieces in order to get as much interior cubic feet as possible without making a bunch of odd cuts and angles. As you can see I still have some, it looks like a bird house. Haha.

Hey how did you go about mounting your amp to the back of your trunk? Not the one in the original amp spot. I have 2 amps that I need to mount but wish to do it stealthy like you

I marked and drilled holes into the metal behind the carpet (smalled than screw used), used some plastic spacers (from lowes) to offset the amp. If I remember right the back wall isn't flat which is the reason for the spacers. I ran all of the wires behind the carpet, cut a slit at the bottom and fed the amp from there.

Just an update.....I got tired of the old head unit, hard to shuffle through the usb music and know what song/albumn I'm on. I ordered one of these off of amazon. Reviews were ok, I've been happy with it so far plus I couldnt beat the price. Better pics of sub box below, I wish I could find a color that matched closer but good enough for now.

InfiniteReality, Any chance you scribbled down some measurements when you made your enclosure? I just picked my car up earlier today, and the sound system has to be upgraded. Got a nasty buzz in my front drivers side speaker, and I hate not having my Sat radio. The only down side I will have to move the changer, since it's in that cubby, but that's not too big of a deal.

Sorry, I didn't write down any measurements. We pulled his box and copied it piece by piece.
