How do you remove the stock clock from the Joying 7" screen? It takes up a ton of room on the stock home screen.

Get another launcher. I personally use Action Launcher, but Nova is another great one too.

It's been a full year. This radio is still running strong huh?
I looked and it appears they have a newer model out with faster boot time and more memory. Has anyone had any experience with that one? Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have any sub controls either though.

I picked up one of the newer joying units with the intel chip and I have had no issues with it. I pretty much just use it for Bluetooth music, navigation and the torque app though. If there is a certain app or something you would like to know if it works I can test it out for you.

Problems I've had are as follows.

Slow boot up time (3 minutes to fully boot until is stops lagging)
Low storage space
Radio stations randomly resetting
Clock keeps going back to military time randomly.
Audio will occasionally make me fade to correct balance/fade.
Netflix won't work
Can't stream blue tooth audio off my tablet like playing Netflix or youtube so I can have audio through my speakers.

Mine still works great. I love it still, mainly only use PowerAmp or Torque. I bought a OBD2 splitter (flat cable) so the scanner stays under my dash. The other one goes to the Interceptor gauge pod. I just installed a 5 channel amp and it's just a little louder than stock amp with Infinity Reference speakers. It is nice my sail speakers have treble now though and the amp mounted in the stock amp location. I removed my JL amp from below hatch latch, but haven't hooked the RCAs up to the new amp.

I have remote start so boot up times I don't even notice, but would be nice if it was faster. I wouldn't mind an upgraded OS, but I've read the app (few pages back) that makes my steering wheel controls fully functional doesn't work with Lollipop.

When I put a screen in my SLC, I'd loves to go with the upgraded headunit. Only down side is I don't have enough depth behind the dash to actually fit it so I'll have to figure something else out.

Did anyone have a problem with the HVAC controls hitting the bottom of the HU?

Mine has no issues with interference.

On another note, I got to use mine on a trip out of town. Unlocked my hotspot on my Pixel and was good to go on the trip. Was nice using Google Maps for navigation purposes, checking the rain on the way and my check engine light came on so I used Torque to check the code. Only thing I didn't like was that it was laggy going between the apps. Also had to remove a couple of programs too, since when I tried to update it was running out of room. The only app that I can possible afford to remove would be MX Player, but want to keep it to watch music videos. I may try and do a factory reset on it and start out fresh to see if that helps some.

It shouldn't need any clearance, so it must be pretty close on yours. You may be able to just loosen the HVAC control 2 bolts and push it down a little bit and tighten the bolts back.

When I made my own bezel 10yrs ago to fit a touch screen there, I had to wallow the holes out slightly to push it down enough, but that was before anyone made bezels

hey Infinite what back up cam is that, seems really low profile. I have an android unit in my GTO and I love that thing and I wouldnt mind having the backup cam, the one they sent me is just to large to install though, that one you used seems pretty minimal.

There should be no reason for any double DIN head unit to contact the HVAC controls below it unless the housing is actually larger than the face. When you line up the face in the bezel opening, there is a built-in separation between the HU face and the HVAC controls below it so the same applies to what is behind the bezel. Is your HU tilted in some way that makes the back of the case lower than the face?

If you need to, you can remove the "shelf" that sits between the headunit and HVAC Controls to get a few more MM space, but you don't need to move the HVAC Controls.

Amazon Amazon

That's what I'm running. I still want to push it up a little higher to hide it more, just been lazy and never think about it when in the shop.
