Anyone happened to find one that fit without the need for trimming the frame for the car? My WS6 is gone, now in a C5 and Metra just came out with a double DIN console for the car and I would like to avoid trimming if possible.

Also think this time I'll find one with Lollipop or Marshmallow and definitely with more internal space. Before the car was gone, I was on the cusp of internal space being filled up on my old HU and only thing it had on it was apps since music was on the SD card. Anyone running one with Lollipop or Marshmallow?

^^ I'd be curious to know too. I just bought a Metra DD bezel for my Sierra, but I don't really want to trim a $150 bezel.

Exactly why I was asking, the C5's bezel is $250..

I ordered a Joying JY-UM135N2 on Amazon and got it in yesterday for the C5. After getting the Metra console, they have the same looking area as the WS6 bezel so should be able to fit it without any issues. I think I'll just need to trim a little on the left/right sides like I did for the WS6's bezel.

Should be a nice upgraded over the old one. It's got 2GB of memory, 32gb of internal this time (no more running out of room), faster 4 core processor, bluetooth 4.0, same button layout and best part is it'll be running Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). Can't wait to have another android headunit, these things will spoil you and can never go back to a regular screen.

I had to trim the Metra one for my GTO so it seems to be a common thing. I noticed once I brought it forward the mic works a lot better, still sounds like im in a tunnel to others though. For the price you really cant go wrong for what you get with these setups

Yep they're ever so slightly too wide. Don't know what they were thinking when making a non-standard double DIN size, lol. I'm guessing you trimmed the left and right side only?

Let us know on the performance upgrade. I'd be curious since I feel mine is a pig.

Also, I don't like that Netflix doesn't seem to work, any ideas on why?

My old one felt a little sluggish compared to my Pixel, but I kind of expected it and especially since it ran KitKat too. I really only used mine to run PowerAmp, Weather Underground, Google Maps, Torque and Action Launcher. I used the clock, WU and PA widgets on my home screen.

My guess is the latest Netflix app maybe doesn't support KitKat now? I know it should all be backwards compatible, but I've come across apps that won't work or I can't even download. One of them was Calida that uses Zooper for widget actions for both of my Nest thermostats.

I remember when I purchased mine originally, they said it would be upgradable to Lollipop when it was released. I checked a few times, but ulitmately didn't really care since 90% of the time mine actually stayed in the PowerAmp app. It was so nice seeing album art and such.

I'll definitely update this thread on what I think about the new version. I'll probably start a new thread on CorvetteForum (assuming it does fit) and I'll link it as well on here.

Hopefully I get home and get it before the wife sees it...

I actually had to go 3 out of 4 on mine, but it wasnt much maybe a MM or 2 on each? basically by the time I cut the part that protrudes into the opening and leaves a ridge on the backside off, it fit like a glove

To hear that it's about the same as WS6 and what I expect to do on the C5. Getting excited now. Thanks!

You running that on the same headunit I originally had or no?

Hope to report back tonight about mine. I can't test Netflix since I don't have an account, but will test the rest.

It's the 1gb model which I think is what hurts it.

Haha, makes sense now. I agree I think processor is good but the memory is what is lagging although I don't remember phones being too bad though. But also think, like computers, the more updated software you run the harder it is for an older one to keep up.

Did you keep your steering wheel controls with Lollipop?

Nah, I started to and worked on it for a half hour and gave up. Honestly not to worried about it now as it's not a daily anymore, so I have plans to throw an aftermarket wheel on it. I watched a video, I think yours?, and couldn't figure it out, so I gave up.

I think Ive asked this before in a different thread but did either of you figure out a way to turn up the mic volume for making calls?

Id say my setup is probably overkill since I dont spend that much time in the car, it just streams music from my phone 90%of the time. the exceptions being the random road trip. Still love this thing though

I do have a video some where in this thread, but just boot up. I did post another one that someone else had figured out how to wire up the steering wheel controls though. I think it was on page 2-3. I followed his instructions and worked fine without issue.

I didn't ever try. Only time I could ever really talk thru the mic was at a redlight and putt-putting at a low speed. highway or interstate, it was out of the question, but hell I could barely talk on the phone the regular either going at that speed.
