Get a higher rated alternator. It's a common prblem.

Or, you could just leave it tached at 3000-3500 RPM... which is a lot more fun!

Do you have a big system? What is placing a large load on your electrical system? If you have none of the above, check your fusebox, maybe something is loose...? When it does "flicker" what is your battery voltage?

I, and a few of my friends, had this problem. Voltage remains fine, but the lights still flicker. A higher rated alt clears it up. I'm currently running a 200A alt in my car, and it hasn't done the flicker since.

If you have a stock stereo and haven't added any taxing electrical components, then a higher output alternator is not needed. Its probably a bad electrical connection somewhere.

I am with VIP1 on this one. No need to replace the Alt, unless of course it is the source of your problem.

Is it actually flickering, or does it dim for a second? It might just be your A.I.R. Pump that you are seeing.

You should experiencing 13-13.8v at idle, no more than 14v, and no lower than 11-11.5v. If you are seeing "surges" of 15v+ It is something wrong with the voltage regulator within your alternator. I would also check the 12v connection from the battery to the underhood fusebox at the fusebox. The connection has a red cap on it. See if it gets really hot, possibly you have a bad connection there. good luck with it.
I'll second that.

That happened to one of my posts on the Western Forum section. My post had a time stamp of 5:52 pm... almost a full 4hrs into the future, so my post kept bumping down and down. Now that the time stamp is caught up, it is where it would normally be. I think the board had a hickup.
Sorry this went off topic.
