Default Add Amp with stock Head Unit?

Is it possible to add an amplifier with the stock head unit? I have the rockford fosgate 6.5 4406 subs in the rear seat speaker locations in my ta but as i understand they are only getting 150 a piece max and that is their rms. if it is possible should i wire the subs to one mono amp and would the jbl gto 601.1 amp be a good choice?

Thanks for the help.

I was going to do that myself. You can definitely do it you just need to get a PAC-OEM-1 to run audio signal to the amp. You can then wire the subs in parallel and have em at 2 ohms, although I dont remember if they will handle 2 ohms, but check the maual on em they might.

You don't need a pac oem-1 though. You can just use a line-level adapteor and tap into your rear speaker leads. The Pac line-level adapter is only $20 or so and works just as well as the PAC OEM-1. Then just tap into the pink wire in the wiring harness for your remote turn-on.

I would tap into the wires going into the Monsoon amp. The speaker wires after the amp have already been X-over those only certain freq are sent. Also, the speaker wires will have more watts through them then wires going to the Monsoon amp. Using the wires going to the amp with a LOC with assist is reducing unwanted noise (whine, humm, etc). Just my .02

That's very true. Just make sure that you get the right wires though. The bass drivers are the speakers in the rear A-pillars. It's a bit easier to just tap into the wires behind the head unit if your amp already has a built in X-over. I did this initially and had no problems whatsoever with noise.

WOW your car came with speakers in the A-pillars?
I think you mean B-pillars (or sometimes called C-pillars even though this is a coupe with only 2 sets of pillars).

i bought an output converter from best buy and did this. after about 2 weeks, i started getting serious buzzing in the speaker. i redid all my wiring and it still buzzed. i tried a new amp/sub also, but that did not solve the problem. i'm thinking about trying it again, but want to try tapping into the rear speakers instead of the wires directly behind the HU. which speakers do i tap into? the ones in the VERY back of the car, or the midbasses in the middle of the car?
