Default wiring question

where do you guys run your power wires? is there already somewhere in the firewall to run it through or are you guys drilling a hole? i will be using 4 gauge. also i have a 6 point cage in my car so that kinda complicates things. it is a 98 z28. thanks in advance for the replies.

Pass. side under the PCM. remove the 2 bolts holding the pcm swing the pcm out of the way and there is a 2" black gromet down there. I have seen 0/1ga in there

you can get a power connection in the fuse panel inside the car too...just need a .10 cent connector...can plug into either a constant power connection or one that is powered when the key is in the on position in the ignition

You don't want 4ga taped into the fuse box!

Is this for audio or did you move your battery to the back?

I have my batt. in the trunk and taylor 2ga running on the pass. side bettween my cage bars and the out side of the car. everything fit fine. But I also rewired the whole car,so there are no other wires on the pass. side!

Why dont you just run that 4 guage up to the battery post like everyone else in the world. Relocating your battery is doing nothing contributing to making your voltage drop.

Just leave the battery up front. I have 1/0 guage running through that passenger side grommet without a problem. Works out great.

But for racing weight in the rear pass side is a very good thing! And it realy cleans up the engine bay!

2muchricemakesmesick... there wouldn't be any voltage drop for the audio system as I would think the amps would be closer to the battery(trunk area) the only time the taylor battery wire kit would evern see a voltage isue is under starting! But I had no problem with that with crapy 4ga audio wire and the taylor is the same as welders wire!

running it through that grommet behind the pcm was a piece of cake. the pcm was a biotch to get back in though... until i realized that i should remove the clips on the wiper cowl and then it just fell into place...

The source of the charge is the alternator. When volt loss was an issue I ran a battery up front and a 'few' batterys in the back with a battery isolator when I was competing in iascca db drag racing.
